I never could make up my mind about “red devils” in fiction - you know, the classical horned, red skinned devilish creatures you see in works like Warhammer 40k dungeon keeper, D&D (even in Star Wars, the devilish-looking aliens who had no ties to the supernatural though…)

My point is, I don’t know if I should see this depiction as “occult and dangerous” or not, mostly because it is man made and folkroristic to the point of being inaccurate (compared to the biblical depiction of an “angel of light” or more overtly demonic representations like the baphomet)…toughts?

I would say that it’s only occult if this “red devil” figure is presented in such a way that the viewer is invited to worship/adore it, or to petition it for favors or protection.

There’s nothing wrong with representing evil in a work of fiction, provided that it is identified as such, or that the viewer is readily able to recognize it as such. What is insidious is when evil is presented in such a way that we are invited to perceive it as good.
