Feast for the parents of St. John the Baptist

Does anyone know why there isn’t a feast day for honoring Sts. Elizabeth & Zechariah, the parents of St. John the Baptist? Was there one on the old calendar and if so, what day was it on?

On the Byzantine calendar, it’s 5 September.

Does anyone know why there isn’t a feast day for honoring Sts. Elizabeth & Zechariah, the parents of St. John the Baptist? Was there one on the old calendar and if so, what day was it on?

There were mentioned in the martyrology on November 5 but did not have a universally kept feast. November was commonly celebrated as the Feast of Holy Relics (even though this was also not technically on the Universal Calendar)

This was the collect for St. Zechariah:

Vigeat quaesumus Domine semper in cordibus nostris divinae tuae praesentiae memoria beati Zechariae sanctissimi Preaecursoris tui patris suffragantibus meritis: ut te super omnia diligentes, ad promissiones tuas,quae omne desiderium seperant sine offensione curramus. Qui visi et regnas.
