Today is the feast of the Prophet Elias on the Julian Calendar.

Troparion, Tone 4: The glorious Elias,* angelic in body, pillar of the prophets, second herald of Christ - * by sending grace upon Eliseus from on high,* dispels disease, cleanses lepers, and overflows with healing ** for those who honor him.

Don’t forget to get your chariot blessed…

S prazdnikom!

My “son” is vacationing in Toronto, and so blest to be at St Elias Brampton for their altar feast. I should have splurged and flown up there for it. 🙂 He’s in heaven. They had fresh ice cream with Priest Galadza and extended family after the festal vespers.

S prazdnikom to every St Elias parish out there and many years to every clergy and lay person named Elias. 👍

Having gotten my chariot blessed on the other calendar (:() I’m opting to go to Mass later at our Dominican’s Priory of St. Albert for their altar feast day. So sad as I am that my parish is on the Revised Julian, today it works out, to be with our wonderful Dominicans. 😉

Our youngest is Ilya and of course today is his name day (Slava) replete with a pool party after the Moleben.

Excuse me for straing the thread a little, but what Moebelen did you do today Fr. Dec.?

To St. Ilya, of course! The Trebnik has a general outline for a Moleben to be sung for any saint.
Is that why there is water polo on 2 of the 4 channels covering the Olympics?
I thought it was appropriate not only because it’s very hot here but since the Paremia at Vespers recalls the drought and then the drenched sacrifice, St. Elias and Eliseus going through the Jordan, etc.
Enjoy (nearly two hours of professionally mastered video)! BTW - the chant throughout is impeccably rendered, to the glory of God!
Many years to Archpriest Roman and St. Elias on the parish Praznik!!! What an incredible parish. We had the great fortune and immense blessing of learning from Frs. Roman and Peter Galadza during our diaconate formation.
