The Holy Father recently elevated her memorial to a full feast. Does this go into effect for this liturgical year - this coming July 22?

Considering the law regarding promulgation and the “vacatio leges”, I would think not.

Our Archdiocese is observing it this year. 🤷
They put out a memo already.

I expect most places to observe it as a feast. After all, who knows about the typical, 3 month vacatio? There are worse things that could happen.

USCCB Liturgical Calendar 2016 has this in July:

22 Fri Saint Mary Magdalene
white
Feast
Sg 3:1-4b or 2 Cor 5:14-17/Jn 20:1-2, 11-18 (603) Pss Prop

For those who celebrate the Liturgy of the Hours there won’t be too many differences, as it is already a memorial with proper antiphons thus using the festival psalms for Lauds and Vespers. Therefore Lauds and Vespers will be identical to the current memorial.

The differences will be:

For the Office of Readings, hymn, psalms and first reading from the common of Holy Women, second reading from the memorial as now.

For the mid-day Office, psalms hymns, psalms and antiphons from the day, but readings from the Common of Holy Women and collect as now, from the saint.

So there will be no need to publish new books 😃

For those chanting in Latin, the hymns for mid-day prayer and Compline will use the festival tone rather than the memorial tone, but otherwise the same hymn.

I am interested in her feast. But alongside the LOBVM, I am rethinking of revisiting them.

Just to add to this. The Proper of Saints for July 22nd, Morning Prayer and Evening Prayer still carries the rubric that the intercessions may be chosen from either the Common of Holy Women or the weekday. The latter will no longer be in force; only the intercessions from the Common will be allowed here.

Also, in the absence of a proper Invitatory antiphon, one would have had the option to recite the Invitatory antiphon from the weekday as well. With the elevation to a Feast, again, this now must be taken from the Common; weekday is no longer an an option.

St. Mary Magdalene’s supposed knowledges of the divine people adheres to the possibility of unity between Jerusalem, Rome, and the ecclessialism of the divine truth of the people of God.

No statement was made by the diocese yet, so I better ask my parish priest first.
