This Sunday is the Feast of the Dedication of St Michael the Archangel, a Class I feast in the old Calendar
Being the Calendar for the Latin EF Mass, where it is the 16th Sunday after Pentecost.

I’m going to Mass tomorrow instead of today to honor him. He’s my patron saint. Quis ut Deus!!

He is our Patron Saint in our subdivision!
St.Michael defend us in battle!

Just a reminder to everyone that tomorrow is also the feast day of Raphael and Gabriel , the other two angels whose names are included in Scripture.

@OurLadyofSorrows

Is this the one?

Probably because your app only shows the predominant feast of the day (as do most print calendars), and the Sunday of Ordinary Time takes precedence. No OF parish will celebrate the archangels Mass tomorrow.

Edit: exceptions may be made where the feast of the archangels is a local solemnity.

I got an update from Fr. Heilman about tomorrow. If y’all could, pray the Chaplet of St. Michael tomorrow as well.

I also checked USCCB

Right… ??? That doesn’t alter my earlier comment. It’s officially the 26th Sunday OT as far as 99% of parishes are concerned; the universal calendar (meaning anytime Sept. 29 isn’t Sunday) has the 3 archangels and other saints as options. See http://catholicsaints.info/29-september/

I find that for certain popular feasts, the faithful still celebrate them even if the OF calendar suppresses them on a particular day… for example, the feast of the Nativity of Mary was not celebrated liturgically this year because it was a Sunday… but our priest still mentioned it multiple times and I know of parishes that had celebrations in her honour.

I’m Orthodox and we don’t celebrate the Feast of St. Michael on the 29th, however, as he’s my patron saint, I’m still taking the opportunity to make a blackberry coulis to go on the cheesecake I made today (that we’re eating tomorrow)- because why not celebrate your patron saint on any day available in the East or the West? 🙂

We officially celebrate The Synaxis of the Chief of the Heavenly Hosts, Archangel Michael and the Other Heavenly Bodiless Powers on November 8th. September 6th we also celebrate the miracle of Saint Michael at Colossae.

Correct; I just meant the Mass and Liturgy of the Hours, per the rubrics, must be the Mass/Liturgy of precedence on the calendar*. Individuals are free to do as they wish, and parishes can acknowledge provided they don’t override the rubrics (i.e., can’t change the vestment colors or readings specified).

*The calendar norms themselves do give leeway to parishes and priests on weekdays that have nothing else specified on the calendar to choose anything they want.

Right. In the case of the Nativity of the BVM, our parish followed the rubrics but we sang Salve Regina after Mass.

In our archdiocese we recite the St Michael prayer after every Mass… so at least we will have that at a minimum tomorrow.

Please note that I said Old Calendar.
I went to both OF and EF Mass today. OF Mass is 26th Sunday in ordinary time and here in Australia it is Social Justice Sunday. In the EF Mass we had Missa Canta for the Feast of the Dedication of St Michael 🙂 In the EF it is the 16th Sunday after Pentecost.

I am sorry for the confusion here, I wonder if I should have used a different word for Old Calendar. Perhaps Latin Mass Calendar or similar. It is well within the rubrics of the EF Mass and as such was a High Sung Mass today to honour St Michael.

Do you guys have Social Justice Sunday in the OF Mass for the 26th Sunday in Ordinary Time in USA or Canada or UK?
