I just saw that today is the Feast of the Annunciation.
Does anybody here do anything special for that? Go to mass, say a special prayer? It is not a Holy Day of Obligation as far as I know, right? But it seems like an important day.
I don’t think I’ll make it to a mass today but I think I’ll say the joyful mysteries of the rosary!!! 🙂

This year because of Easter, the Feast of the Annuciation was moved to today. This is the feast when Daughters of Charity all over the world renew their vows. I don’t know if the Daughters are in Switzerland but their motherhouse is in Paris, France. If you ever get to Paris, drop in to 140 Rue du Bac. You’ll find the chapel where St. Catherine Laboure (a Daughter of Charity) had the visions of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. To you: Happy Feast!

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.

Happy the Feast day to you too!
Our Lady is full of graces - we should ask Her for God’s graces.

I just received this lovely message via email from the Salesians . . .
Dear Members of the Salesian Family -
Three hundred and ninety-six years ago, Francis de Sales included these lines in a brief note that he wrote to St. Jane de Chantal on the Feast of the Annunciation:
“Although I have a great deal to do, how could I not send greetings to my very dear daughter on the day of the happiest of all greetings? I beg the glorious Virgin - hailed by an angel today - to beg for us some of the holy consolation bestowed upon Her. May God bless you and fill you with his graces; God be with us, my very dear daughter. Beyond this, I have no leisure for more, thanks to Our Lord who shows us the favor of using us continuously in his holy service, for it is by God’s work that I am being kept very busy in many ways…”
As busy as we may be on any given day - at any given moment - let us always try our level best to honor the spirit of the Annuciation by making time to greet - and acknowledge - one another in the midst all our busyness!
And so recognize the presence of God in one another.

Blessing to all of you, my busy friends.

It is an important day in the two meditation books I read daily, IN CONVERSATION WITH GOD and DIVINE INTIMACY. It also was given a special set of prayers and readings in MAGNIFICAT magazine.

i love the Annunciation because we can genuflect in the Creed and get to recite the beautiful intercessions of Lauds (Morning Prayer). It retains the Marian invocation at the end which runs:
Holy Mary, comfort the miserable, help the fainthearted, cheer those that weep - pray for the people, be the advocate of the clergy, intercede for all women consecrated to God.
and the Benedictus Antiphon
God loved us so much that he sent his own Son in a mortal nature like ours, alleluia.

I didn’t realize that it was the Feast of the Annunciation today. Interesting because I woke up at 2 this morning and had a real desire to pray the Joyful Mysteries of the rosary.

This reminds me how last Sunday I came across a little booklet again in my backpack that I had been carrying around, with the chaplet of the divine mercy. And it was Mercy Sunday, I then realized!
