The last Sunday in October, according to the liturgical calendar used in TLM, is the Feast of the Kingship of Our Lord Jesus Christ - I invite folks from St. Louis area to St. Francis de Sales Oratory for the solemn high mass at 10:00am…the Vicar General of the Archdiocese of St. Louis will preach. And since this feast day is tied in with the priestly order there (Institute of Christ the King Soverign Priest), it ought to be beautiful as ever.

I was wondering if this feast day was moved or removed in the N.O. liturgical calendar…I looked at the mass readings for this day at the USCCB website and there is no mention of this feast day.

Thanks!

Just a little correction-that’s November 26, not 24.
Last Sunday in Ordinary Time to be precise 🙂

While the Gospel reading is the same in both (John 18:33-37), the reading from the Epistle is different in TLM…tomorrow’s TLM Epistle is as follows:
Col. 1:12-20
Giving thanks to God the Father, who hath made us worthy to be partakers of the lot of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of the Son of his love, In whom we have redemption through his blood, the remission of sins; Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For in him were all things created in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones, or dominations, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him and in him. And he is before all, and by him all things consist. And he is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he may hold the primacy: Because in him, it hath well pleased the Father, that all fullness should dwell; And through him to reconcile all things unto himself, making peace through the blood of his cross, both as to the things that are on earth, and the things that are in heaven.
Peace in Christ the King!

My TLM unfortunately celebrated today’s feast with a low Mass (the choir typically only sings every other Mass - maybe because they need lots of preparation time - and I have a feeling their gearing up for All Saints’), but I still loved the readings and it gave me a new appreciation for the feast. I don’t know for sure why they struck me more this time than the previous 22, since the Gospel is the same, but I think it was just knowing that today I was attending a feast of the 1st class, as opposed to what typically gets glossed over as what happens to be the readings for the last Sunday in Ordinary Time.

Just returned from mass - awesome as expected…the kind of mass that brings tears to your eyes. Immediately after Solemn High Mass we had the singing of Te Saeculorum Principem, then Father led us in the singing of the Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (in Latin), then the whole congregation with him making the Act of Consecration of the Human Race to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, then the Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.

Goose bumps all around.

Peace in Christ,

St. Francis de Sales parish in the Atlanta archdiocese, the FSSP parish, celebrated Christ the King today with the parish’s recently acquired gold vestments. Mass was followed by an All Saints party, where children and adults dressed up. The celebration continued with parish devotions to the Holy Face, Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament and Solemn Vespers.
