A blessed Feast of the Holy Transfiguration of Our Lord, God and Savior Jesus Christ to the CAF family!

Christ took his disciples, Peter, James, and John,* and was transfigured on a high mountain in their presence.* His face became as bright as the sun,* and his garments were whiter than the snow.* Moses and Elijah appeared and spoke with Him,* and a bright cloud came over them;* a voice was heard from the clouds, saying:* This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!

You were transfigured on the mountain, O Christ God,
And you showed your disciples as much of your glory as they could hold.
Let your eternal light shine also upon us sinners.
Through the prayers of the Mother of God, O Giver of Life, glory be to you.

Great feast that seems to have been forgotten by the west. I’m not sure if any Roman Catholic Churches celebrated it today, at least in my neck of the woods.

If they have Mass at all, they would have to celebrate it. It’s not optional.

Ok. So if one went to weekday Mass this morning or evening they would have celebrated the feast?

Thanks Father,

Yes. It ranks as a feast (midway between a Solemnity and a Memorial), so it would be observed liturgically.

I take great joy in celebrating Mass for the Transfiguration since it’s my baptismal anniversary.

Many blessed years, Father!

I was baptized & chrismated the same day that Pope Paul VI issued the Credo of the People of God:

On the Byzantine Catholic calendar, it’s the Synaxis of the Holy Apostles:

I always try to celebrate my anniversary on the day (June 30th, like this year 💛) or on the Feast of Sts. Peter & Paul if it June 30th falls during the week.
