Today we celebrate the humble visit of Mary to her kinswoman, Elizabeth. So much to contemplate on this day.

The brilliance of the Second Joyful Mystery of the Rosary.

The absolutely beautiful liturgical readings of this day:
-joyful expectation for the promised saviour (Zep 3: 14-18),
-openness and hospitality (Rom 12: 9-16),
-trust, hope, longing for the imminent arrival of the saviour (Isaiah 12: 2-6)
-narrative of Elizabeth’s greeting, the awesome!! Magnificat (Lk 1: 39-56).

This date is about 8 weeks since the feast of Annunciation. Consider that, at 8 weeks, the young one has a heartbeat; is developing lips, nose, eyelids; beginning to form fingers and toes; is about the size of the first joint on my finger.

Wonderful. Amazing. Humbling. That God put so much into the details of his creation, and then chose to enter into it, out of his great love.

How has God shown you his love today?

Your post was very beautiful @Crocus

God has shown me His love today, by letting me hear my sweet baby girl’s laughter. At a time when I am struggling with extreme sadness, that laugh reminds me of the incredible gift God has given.

That’s wonderful Peonies. Thanks be to God who created laughter, a soothing balm.🙏

We had a beautiful Mass in my parish and one of our best singers sang the Magnificat in Latin during Communion. The hymns we had chosen fit very well with the readings and the Easter season. Just singing today without organ but still a very beautiful Mass.

The Gospel reading (Luke 1:39-56) became very important during the time it took for me to be received into the Catholic Church so it is always a favourite to listen to. I never had problems, as a protestant, with the view on Mary as “she had God in her tummy” so she must have been very, very special. And I can also have Him in my tummy. Then there is the other baby who lets his mother know, that the Mother of God has brought the Son of God into their presence. Our faith is physical and gets under our skin…
