Feb 23 - Day 4 of our journey

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Please remember, St. Louis De Montfort “suggests” reading Part 1 of “True Devotion” as we spend these 12 days seeking “to empty ourselves of the spirit of the world” but if you do not have time, either to read these threads or his treatise, don’t think you are unable to continue this journey. The most important part of the journey is our growing relationship with Jesus through Mary, by the power of the Holy Spirit.

In paragraph 80, we hear echoes of the Gospel from St. Louis:

1. Is it any wonder then that our Lord laid down that anyone who aspires to be his follower must deny himself and hate his very life? He makes it clear that anyone who loves his life shall lose it and anyone who hates his life shall save it. Now, our Lord, who is infinite Wisdom, and does not give commandments without a reason, bids us hate ourselves only because we richly deserve to be hated. Nothing is more worthy of love than God and nothing is more deserving of hatred than self.

By God’s Grace, let us ponder today the difference between “the spirit of the world” and what God’s Holy Spirit calls us to be and do in this world.

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful; kindle in us the Fire of Your Love.
Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us.
Jesus, we trust in You.
