Exactly!I have come across anti-Catholicism from ex-Catholics. In most cases they left the Church because they wanted to do something the Church said they were not allowed to do, eg remarry after a divorce, marry a divorced person, have an abortion etcâŚ
After finding a denomination that supported their decision, they then condemned the CC for all sorts of things in an effort to justify their decision.
That has been my experience anyway.
All I can say about to those Catholics is woe to them. It is better not to judge others. It doesnât benefit others to downplay their churches. They should focus more in ecumenicism and focus on the doctrines that unites both faiths.I fear thatâs not entirely true, my friend. There are Catholics who condemn Protestant Churches, and there are priests who have done and said some really ugly things to Protestant clergy.
There is blame on both sides. Neither can be defended or tolerated in a Christian context. But some manage anyhow.

Wounds to unity
817 In fact, "in this one and only Church of God from its very beginnings there arose certain rifts, which the Apostle strongly censures as damnable. But in subsequent centuries much more serious **dissensions appeared and large communities **became **separated from full communion with the Catholic Church **- for which, often enough, **men of both sides were to blame."269 The ruptures that wound the unity of Christâs Body - here we must distinguish heresy, apostasy, and schism270 **- do not occur without human sin:
Where there are sins, there are also divisions, schisms, heresies, and disputes. Where there is virtue, however, **there also are harmony and unity, from which arise the one heart and one soul of all believers.**271
818 âHowever, **one cannot charge with the sin of the separation those who at present are born into these communities [that resulted from such separation] and in them are brought up in the faith of Christ, and the Catholic Church accepts them with respect and affection as brothers . . . . **All who have been justified by faith in Baptism are incorporated into Christ; they therefore have a right to be called Christians, and with good reason are accepted as **brothers in the Lord by the children of the Catholic Church.â**272
For many of us, the problem isnât in the beliefs of the Catholic church or the practices; it lies with the authority of your church and how it came to be. I would contest the origin of papal infallibility for starters and what it has made the Catholic church today. I pray the Rosary, celebrate 7 sacrements, observe the communion of saints and recite the Nicene Creed evey Sunday. I also partake in the body and blood of Christ and cross myself with holy water immediately following communion. I consider myself fully Christian and fully Catholic, but just not Roman Catholic.I am not going to name names. Many of the new members here who were Catholics but left has a zeal that is pure anger and hatred.
and he insist in ânever coming back to the Catholic Church.â I donât know what the big deal is. Is not a Christianity suppose to have charity?
This only proves my point from comparing Ex-Protestants who are now Catholic embrace their old faith tradition, while Ex-Catholic turn Protestant attack the Church.
They claim they are filled with the Holy Spirit but they are not.
For Jesus said in Matthew 5:22.
So I tell you my Christians brothers and sisters. Donât attack the Church because if you do, you are no better than Satan himself and you are not worthy to call yourself a Christian.
Note I said fed up or frustrated but not anger.
The Catholic Church is the only church that follows directly from Christ. Roughly 2000 years of history. It has not split off from anyone (saving the Orthodox- and that is, I agree, a difficult case, and one quite different from the CofEâs situation) and it is not founded by man, but by God.For many of us, the problem isnât in the beliefs of the Catholic church or the practices; it lies with the authority of your church and how it came to be. I left the church because of the Pope and the teachings of the church which, in some instances, contradict 2000 years of Christian history. For many of us, the problem isnât in the beliefs of the Catholic church or the practices; it lies with the authority of your church and how it came to be. A ex-Catholic and a Jack Chick interpretation is a Dangerous ThingI am not going to name names. Many of the new members here who were Catholics but left has a zeal that is pure anger and hatred.

What teachings of the Catholic Church contradict the Bible? To be honest, there isnât one. Not one.I left the church because of the Pope and the teachings of the church which, in some instances, contradict 2000 years of Christian history.
They are dangerous, because what they taught regarding the false may give Catholics who do not know their faith to fall, and cause them to leave the Church.A ex-Catholic and a Jack Chick interpretation is a Dangerous Thing![]()
2 Peter 1:20I left the church because of the Pope and the teachings of the church which, in some instances, contradict 2000 years of Christian history.
My wife has remained a Cathoilc. Iâm not angry, I just donât believe in the âteaching authorityâ of the church. The Bible is the word of God.
I think you maybe right. But donât forget the other moral issues that trip up so many, i.e. ABC, abortion, premarital sex, homosexual sex, etc. I sadness for people who think they know better than the Church. I call it pure selfishness. I am just so glad that I was in Catholic schools for twelve years where religion was a part of almost every class. Yes, we learned the Catechism by rote, but I never forgot it and I think that is the case with the majority of people so educated. That has also been my experience. Remarriage seems to be the biggie. Whether for themselves or their spouse.
Working for the Criminal Justice System, among the worst offenders I have come across are ex-CatholicsI am not going to name names. Many of the new members here who were Catholics but left has a zeal that is pure anger and hatred.
You are wrong in your judgment of King Henry. First of all, his marriage took place under a dispensation because it was not justified by church teaching. Secondly, Pope Clement was under severe pressure by the emperor to deny Henry the annulment which was purely the politics of the Catholic church. As for the Anglican church, it was started by the coming back to the teachings of the early church and the Bible, the annulment issue was an event second in nature to the formation of the system of beliefs and worship which became our first Book of Common Prayer. The Catholic Church is the only church that follows directly from Christ. The Church of England was founded as a rejection of the Authority of the Pope in the matter of Henry VIII being able to do pretty much whatever the hell he wanted. How is that the good basis of a religion (bearing in mind that the Anglican Communion is the daughter of the CofE).
And I hate to say this but the Holy See has made it clear to Catholics (what you would call Roman Catholics, but that term is never used by the Church) that Anglican orders are null. Thus we cannot believe you have â7 Sacramentsâ.
What I do hope is that we can all reach out in love and share our Christian duties in as many fields as possible (eg in defence of life). I hope and pray that that will lead to the reunion of the separated brethren to the Church.
Did you notice that in all of these examples, it comes down to sex? Putting their own sexual desires before the clear teaching of the Church, and hence Scripture.Originally Posted by maryjk

This should be discussed in a separate Thread. But look what the ex-Catholics did to the Church in England. They attacked it quite viciously. You are wrong in your judgment of King Henry.
