The cases you are citing are all very old most of them before 1930. The Personal Income tax codes have been revised many, many times since those cases.
That’s how the law works. Congress makes a law. Someone sues over the law and it might make it up to the Supreme Court. The Court makes a ruling stating the law is unconstitutional and the law is void. Then Congress makes a new law…the cycle starts all over again. (Remember checks and balances?) I believe in the personal income code the income is defined. That supersedes the earlier supreme court decision.
I would suggest that you go talk to a tax lawyer that can walk you through the cases and the statutes surrounding the rise of the personal income tax.
