I am sorry for your loss. My mother died similarly yesterday. As it is she passed away quietly on Saturday Night surrounded by family. She was pretty much out of consciousness from Thursday on but by the end they had her comfortable and she drifted away. .
Her advance medical directive made the final decisions.
I had asked for a priest to visit her and one did. However, I wasn’t there when he was. She was not conscious so far as I know, unable to swallow, and was intubated at the time, so there’s no possible way he could have offered her Holy Communion. I hope Last Rites/Anointing of the Sick doesn’t require the Eucharist.
