Has it occurred to you Nicole that you need to form some close friendships with Catholics (there in your parish) and talk with them about some of this stuff? You also need to take the time to talk such things over with your priest since he’s there to help shepherd you. You have all manner of enthusiam and energy and I can just about guarentee that you are are needed somewhere in your parish. (As much as you love the faith and apologetics, have you thought of becoming a catechist and a sponsor in RCIA? They ALWAYS need those guys!)

We love you dearly Little sister of mine, (I think you know that I do), but asking an online forum some of the things that you do is like askin’ an online forum how to do brain surgery on yourself. Where is your RCIA sponsor? This is also part of their function y’know?

Doubt is normal…it comes with being human. None of us think we are holy enough, but like you we are working on that, and we know that just that desire pleases God and He offers still more grace.

Hang in ther Lil Sister! PM me if ya need to talk, ok?
Pax tecum,

I didn’t read the other thread since it was so long, just your original post.

Everyone at times goes through spiritual highs and lows. It’s just how we get through those spiritual lows that shows what type of people we really are.

You need to determine what type of ground you were planted it. Were you planted in the rocky soil, on the path, or the fertile soil?

There will always be issues with the people and issues related to the church. Just make sure any issues you may be having are with the actual church and not impressions you get of the church from its members or the members themselves they can all make mistakes.

All the members of God’s church on Earth are fallable.

lol, Paris, are you kidding me? You’re doing it again, in one post, you manage to go from calmed down to having a fit. Sorry, but that is too funny, especially with all the advice people are giving you.

My advice, take the advice given to you on the other thread. Take baby steps in your faith.

I think the problem is, I’m basically a ā€œnew Christianā€ to the REAL Christianity faith so to speak.

I never grew up in a denomination but knew that God exists and His Word, crazy, huh?[http://images.bravenet.com/common/images/smilies/8_grim.gif](javascript: void(0)šŸ˜‰

After seeing the Passion last March 2004, my world totally changed literally! That’s when I discovered the Christian religion more.

Reading Scripture and spiritual books really wanted me to be a good Christian and to avoid sin and whenever I always failed, I would get so upset because I wanted to do everything perfect[http://images.bravenet.com/common/images/smilies/dance-disco.gif](javascript: void(0)šŸ˜‰ but found out that doesn’t happen. It takes a liiiiffffffeeeeetttiiimmmeee! It’s a burden trying to so don’t do it!

Now that I’ve gotten the blessed gift of knowing the Fullness of Truth, I REALLY have to be serious about my faith and when I fall, oh my, disaster touches down and I’m worse than a hurricane!
THAT’S why I get so emotional because I’m trying to do this and that and heard that if you don’t do this or that, you’re not a Catholic or Christian, etc. etc. and then it’s gets to be a burden which causes me to give up everything which causes me to fail spiritually, make sense?

I hope I’m not driving you guys insane[images.bravenet.com/common/images/smilies/knockedout.gif](javascript: void(0);). If so, [images.bravenet.com/common/images/smilies/fryingpan.gif](javascript: void(0)šŸ˜‰

Just don’t get to scrupulous over what you are doing to be Catholic /Christian. There are very few things you HAVE to do in order to be a Catholic. They are mainly covered in the Easter duty. (i.e. confession at least once a year, etc.) Whenever you fail in doing something, don’t worry about it. Just goto confession and start over. All of us have our crosses to bear. It is common for new converts to have a lot of doubts. Someone (I can’t remember who) once said that a thousand doubts do not make a disbelief.

When you have issues with something of the faith, discuss it with someone. Don’t immediatly blow up and think you need an answer right away. Look it up, pray about it, talk to a priest. The answers are out there you just have to find them. The more you find yourself the more you will be proud of yourself.

It can take time to fully understand the faith. You may never understand everything about it, but its a lifetime journey not a short day trip.

Paris,

Have you always needed to be perfect in everything (school, etc)? Not trying to be a snark, just generally curious.

[Also, Church Militant has some A++++ advice, but from what I’ve read of him, it’s to be expected! šŸ‘]

I used to but not anymore because I know that we can’t be perfect in everything. But I’m talking about being HOLY! This is serious! This is reality. But then again, we have to work on it…[images.bravenet.com/common/images/smilies/sly.gif](javascript: void(0)šŸ˜‰

Yes, Church Militant has great advice! šŸ™‚

Pax tecum,
How’d you know my name? Oh, I must’ve told you, eh?[http://images.bravenet.com/common/images/smilies/sly.gif](javascript: void(0)šŸ˜‰

The only problem is, most of the people I talk to are older folks (like in their 40s and 50s!)! No offense or anything! šŸ™‚ Though the good part is, my sponsor is a 6 months older than me so I guess I could give her a call so we can chat, eh? But isn’t it mostly their part to call more?

Holiness is definately a serious matter, no doubt about it. Luckily we get our entire lifetime to work on it. šŸ˜‰

Paris, your sponsor is probably still experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder from going through RCIA with you! šŸ˜›

Now, cheer up and calm down, if you can.

Remember that if you don’t squeek as you roll along you don’t get the ā€œgreaseā€. I don’t know any Catholics right now who read minds. (Padre Pio help us!)
Hang in Sis!

I have worked for several major fortune 500 companies and they all like the mentor program, they get people to sign up as mentors to help people in their new jobs, but this just doesnt work. The reality is you need to seek out your own mentors, the most successive people have sought out people, connections get people hired, promoted, raises…

Samething for your RCIA and your sponsor, you have to do the work, seek out your sponsor or a new one, one day you might be ready to be a sponsor yourself.

In a nutshell no you are wrong it is not the responsiblity of your sponsor to call you and make sure Nicole is doing ok. It is your responisibility to make that call.

Paris, I’m only 29, so I do understand what you mean (no disrespect to the older people here, lol). It helps to talk with people in your own age group, just makes it feel more acceptable. Don’t worry, be open with others about your new found faith, don’t engage in debates, and you’ll see much more people open up about their desires to have your enthusiasm. You’ll have plenty of people to talk to . Too bad there is no young adult group in your parish.

Yes, but remember: if you really want to do the right thing, you’re doing OK; honest! It’s when you deny that sin is sin that you get into trouble…into the group that might be called ā€œnot Catholicā€ or ā€œnot Christianā€. You’re still trying, so you are on the right track. šŸ‘

Say, Paris, I’ve been reading your posts and I think it’s time you need to read a book: Story of a Soul: The Autobiography of St. Therese of Lisieux
I’ve been reading it the past couple of months, and I really feel that you may be able to identify with her. Take a time out, grab the book, sit down near a fire or someplace cozy in your home with some hot chocolate and cookies, and relax. I think this book will really help you out. šŸ‘

God Bless!
