Feel worn out and need all of your prayers

God’s blessings to all. I have no car and an on a fixed income. Plus am in major debt. I have to walk everywhere a minimum of 30 to 40 minutes each way whether it is food shopping or to my nearest church. It is hard in the Florida heat to do so. We have been having hotter than usual pre spring weather.

I feel worn out. I try to get rides to church but had one parishioner in the Adoration Chapel tell me unkindly not to ask her for rides anymore. I tried not to let it affect me but it seems that whenever I think I may have a friend at church I somehow wear out the person. I guess I am too over eager I guess but I feel very lonely and church is my only refuge.

My parents are both dead, I have no siblings, no friends and i choose not to keep in contact with my dysfunctional family. I am a loner I guess and come across others as weird in church. I am friendly to all but just can’t make any solid friendships at church and it hurts.

The only other church is across town and would take 2 hours to walk to. My life is very lonely and I do pray a little but I can get so depressed that I stay in the room I rent 2 to 3 days in a row.

I try to take refuge in Our Lord and Our Lady but it’s hard. Please pray for me. Thanks and God bless.

Same situation here, except I physically can’t walk far. I discovered that if I distribute my drivers among multiple people, no one feels excessively burdened. This is crucial. The parish office may be able to find you rides from among people who live in your general area. To reduce burden, you could even walk to their house.

When I could walk to church, I would find someone outside after Mass, and ask for a ride home. At times, I would take a taxi, counting on being able to find a ride home, or, if not, walking. Being active in KofC or PCCW and helping with other parish activities can help you get to know more people.

Have you considered getting a bicycle?

Remember that loneliness kills. Maybe some counseling and/or medication will help.

Staying at home two or three days in a row is doable, if you are comfortable with yourself. I sew, cook (and have rented a room and used appliances), read, watch TV, and play around on the internet. I walk around the neighborhood, and have a cheap exercycle.

Thanks for your prayers Jerusha. 😊 It’s comforting to know that the ‘rides’ situation is not only me going through. I have tried asking for rides after church but at times feel ashamed to ask, especially after the Adoration Chapel incident.

I don’t want to further alienate any other parishioners. I am on meds for depression but can’t see to make any friendships at Church that are lasting. Anyway… I am going on too much. Thanks again. 🙏
 
Forgot to answer about bike… I had bought one but like a dummy forgot to check if it was too high first. I bought it from my housemate before trying it out and ended up giving it away to lady from church who was kind enough to give me household items when I first moved in.
 
I have a friend who is quirky. I don’t like to ask her for rides, because I don’t know how she will react on any given occasion. Just remember that the one who declined any more rides was just one person. Everyone isn’t like her.

Try again for another bike. The one I had was too heavy, I traded it in for an old-fashioned one without all the gears and stuff. Hopefully I will be able to ride it to church with more help from doctors.
 
You’re right that the one persons rejection doesn’t mean others will react the same but it was humiliating. I will see if I can get another bike and you will also be in my prayers too so the doctors can help you. 😊🙏
 
I’ve tried and wish the church would go back to using church van but because of high insurance costs they stopped. Thanks for your prayers and post. 😊🙏

This is a time for change. 1-look for new apt. Close to stores and church. One w a room mate?? That can be good or bad. BE CAREFUL.
I don’t know your dysfunctional family. I have my own. We love each other and share lives. Rarely, my heart gets ripped out. God heals it and I press on.

Financially, your family should be the first to help you. Being near them, can be s blessing. Running away from dysfunction hurts as much as living your way through it. Only w God’s strength. NOT ALONE!

Have you tried finding some work so you might afford transportation?
 
Thank you all for your prayers. 🙏😊 To answer some of your questions… I am on Disability so I can’t make past a certain income for extra money and even with that it won’t be much of a help. My dysfunctional family live in another state and I lost all their numbers moving, even if I wanted to contact them, I wouldn’t. My reasons for staying away from them are too serious to get into.

I can’t move to another apartment… I would have to find an assisted living place and the nearest one is farther from the stores and church. I have looked… believe me. I have forgiven my family but they are too toxic to be around.

Mother Mary, comfort this child of yours during this sad time. St. Joseph, bring your speedy assistance in all things temporal, most importantly, a reliable mode of transportation to church.

Especially such behavior in front of the Blessed Sacrament. 😖
