Feelin sad, indifferent, helpless

I do not like feeling this way. I know many, many people need prayers more than me. I have been praying for financial assistance for such a long time, and there are days where I cannot even eat because of it.

I really need prayers because I’ve started to lose hope and I’ve become burned out and indifferent. I don’t know what to do next.😦

Praying for you. It’s never hopeless, give it all to Jesus and let Him be your guide and rely on Him for everything like a dependent baby. Because we can do nothing without His grace.

Do you qualify for any kind of assistance…like Food Stamps…some seem to call them SNAP?

I’m not sure your general situation…why you can´t make ends meet…medical stuff…health…other?

Goodwill where I used to live, (the office part, not the store) offered to help people out with a free assessment. Sometimes, they can assist with used medical supplies. Once, they gave me a wheelchair. Sometimes, they can give a voucher for clothing. They can often see what needs you have and match you to the appropriate local community resources.

Now, there is also St. Vincent de Paul, through the Catholic Church, that can often help with food. Go online, do a search for food assistance in your area.

When I was in my 20s, I would go days without eating, later learned of budge utility billing, HEAP , a once-a-year energy assistance program, but each state will probably have their same version.

Sometimes, if you call up utilities, they also have additional programs, or can work out a payment agreement, in some cases.

In NYS, they had free energy audits, and with those, they gave me tips and free energy-saving stuff. They told me I had my hot water tank heater cranked ALL the way up, unbeknownst to me. Just turning that down saved money.

I was putting my apartment down to refrigeration temperature, 42 degrees, and they told me it actually used MORE energy to change temperature of an entire apartment, if it was more than 5 degrees…so try to leave the temperature more stable.

They gave me a free energy, and water-saving showerhead which used 2 gallons/ min. The one I had used before was using probably 10-12 gallons/min. So, that was a no sacrifice way to save BOTH on water AND heat…I had electric, so I saved a lot with these changes. Plus, they gave me free hot water tank wrap.

I learned to carpool with a friend. Sometimes, I babysat to get me over the hump.

I got energy-saving lightbulbs, put up plastic on the windows, weatherstripping, etc.

I clipped coupons, went with a friend, did buy-one-get-one free. In one area, I shared a cab, and we shopped together once a week.

In one case, I babysat for a neighbor, and she helped me with transportation.

Call up the United Way…explain your situation, ask what help is available in your community.

I believe there ARE resources available…soup kitchens, etc. Churches can sometimes also help.

Oh…not sure what your circumstances are, if you qualify…but there is also…TANF.

If you also need housing assistance, there is Section 8…but there´s generally a waiting list, unless possibly one is homeless.
 
When I was struggling, financially, I also learned more how to cook. I ate more things like rice and beans, which may seem simple, but they are VERY cheap and also nutritious.
 
I was also more or less forced to learn more how to budget, stretch a dollar.
