Just made a General Confession that lasted almost 2 hours. Feeling so drained – psychologically and physically. Is it normal to feel the effects of spewing out the poison of your entire sinful life and not “feel” the sense of relief yet? I KNOW what it did, but have not experienced the sweet taste of it.

Peace.

Yes, it can happen, But we shouldn’t EVER become ‘attached’ to the feeling we get from Confession (or from prayer, for that matter). And we should stay vigilant against this desire for feelings.

Sometimes God gives us such consolations, but not always. And our faithfulness needs to be expressed by our continuing to go back to Confession irrespective of the feelings (to go, or those feelings we get after we Confession).

And prayer…sometimes people stop praying because it’s dry or because it’s hard or because they don’t get feelings out of it.

This is a faulty intention…we pray because we love God…we confess because we love God.

Either way… Gratias tibi Deus
