I don’t know why i am feeling down. I don’t want to do anything. I want to go to confession today but due to some time problems i didn’t. And i am planning to go tomorrow but i still don’t feel any better. I am quite depressed… can someone help?

Whatsa matta for you eh? 😃

Okay, all kidding aside, I’m not sure what’s bugging you except that you sound like you want/need to go to confession.

Have you checked out your conscience to see if there’s some mortal sin that’s getting you down? If so then make yourself go, and you should be better.

If that’s not it, then maybe you’re not sleeping well, (Hey, you’re up at the pre crack of dawn like me) and that could mean several things…

You might get out your Bible and read Luke 15 (for example) because it is a witness to God’s love for us.

I don’t know if any of this helps, but I hope so. I’ll remember you at Mass today.

Thanks! 😃 and yes, i did have a mortal sin.:o But then i want to go tomorrow. I was going to go but then i found out there were no priests at the time. And then i need to go to the guitar lesson. I wanted to go afterwards, but i have stuff to do and i don’t feel like going there with my dad. So i am going there afterschool tomorrow…

Ah, well that makes sense.

Listen my friend I want you to be aware that even that grave sin is still something that Our Lord died on the cross for and then set in place the wonderful sacrament of confession to bring us back into good fellowship with Him. Your unease is probably the work of the Holy Spirit, which in itself is a sign of His love for you because He sends Him to convict us when we foul up and that, (just like the hard times for the kid in Luke 15) is what calls us home to be restored to our Father.

Hopefully you know the Act of Contrition prayer and by sincerely praying it you have already expressed your intent to confess your sins and amend your life. You do realize that you can probably catch your priest after Mass today and get him to hear your confession? 🙂 Just ask…it’s unlikely to be a problem.

Thanks 🙂 I will try to work up my courage to face all these sins tomorrow. Sorry i forgot to mention that i am in HK, so i went to mass already. But there is a chruch very near to our school, and i am planning to find a priest after school tomorrow. Thanks a lot, a good advice always lits up my day:)

Are you into .MP3’s any? I would recommend listening to a really cool talk by Fr. Larry Richards, on Confession. Here’s the free link:

Here’s another cool .MP3 by a guy who was about as far from God as you can be in this life, but became a priest. Fr. Donald Calloway.

Thanks for providing the link!=] Should i talk about the unpleasant experience i had today with the priest i went for confession? Or will that be wrong?

I suppose we can.

My main concern is…Did he absolve you?

No, not really. Well, he was in a hurry. And he told me to come again after the mass. But i didn’t. And today i went to another priest. My mother told him i want a confession. Only i don’t know what happened today was really confession. I have a lot to confess but i only talked about one because well… after that he taught me and then talked about something else. We weren’t in a normal room, just walking around. I didn’t say anything you normally say in a confession. I was hesitating whether to tell him i have more to confess, and then he brought me back to my mother… so do i need to confess again?

Hmmmm, :hmmm: Not sure.

Did he give an absolution. If he did, and didn’t give you a chance to tell ll then I think you’re okay. If not…I’d see him again.

Dear Hopeforfaith,

Have you ever felt this way before? If you have, you could be suffering from clinical depression, which can be treated with Zoloft (by prescription).

I have had days when I had absolutely no energy and no will to do anything. At first I thought I was just being lazy. Then I spoke to a friend who shared with me an experience he had while driving. At an intersection, he flipped on his left turn signal, and suddenly he couldn’t move. He wanted to turn the wheel, but found he did not have the will or the energy to do it. His experience lasted for about 5 minutes. And he had several similar experiences while doing everyday things (i.e., suddenly he’d just lose all interest or energy). He saw his doctor who prescribed him Zoloft, and he’s never had a recurrence of the problem.

On his advice, I also saw my own doctor, and I’m doing well.

I hope this has helped.

Blessings,
Marduk
