The other night my neighbor came knocking on my door, to tell me that her mom had died and now she has to take care of her father and down syndrome brother. So she was asking, since we love animals if we would adopt her one year old puppy. Whom we know and my dog has played with.Because it would be too much for her to hadle now. Sooo silly me, I felt really bad for her situation and I wanted to help. So I said yes, we’ll give it a try. But she did not tell me, that he is “still” not house broken and that she sleeps with him on the bed and carries him all the time in the house. He also has not had any rabies shots and is not fixed (and my dog is a female!). Sooo I have not slept in two days, nothing that I try calms him, he only wants to sleep in my bed, and this is something I do not do with any dog I have had. He also cries all day, jumping up at me to be carried, he goes wee wee all around the house and poop. My own dog has become so nervous, that will not eat an is hiding under my bed all the time. This triggered me to get an anxiety attack and now I’m feeling extremely anxious and nervous from all his crying. To make it worse, my DH and I had a bad arguement fo the first time in months, because he wants me to keep the dog and train him, like I did with mine. But I want to call my neighbor and tell her that it did not work. My anxiety had practically gone away, my DH and I were living soo peacefully, and I really do not have the money to pay all the Vet expenses. I feel responsible, for jumping in so fast, in helping my neighbor in all this and saying that I would give it a try. But silly me, I thought he was house broken, up to date with his vaccinations etc., being that my neighbor is a teacher. I thought she had these things, taken care of. I feel sorry and guilty for the dog, for he is innocent in all this. But my own mother is sick in PR and my anxiety level has been high this year.I know I did wrong by taking him, but I do not feel ready to house break a dog and get him into the mental state, that he has to live like a dog, not a human being. I’m afraid that if I keep him, my DH and I will continue to have more issues. If I do not sleep well, my anxieties get really bad. My dog is really well trained, but it takes months to really train a dog well, if he was not trained from puppy. I feel bad for my neighbor, but I cannot do this right now. In just two days the vibe in my home has gonne from loving and peaceful, to high stress, anxiety and a bad arguement. Please pray for me. I know it is my fault, but the peace of my home and my health are very important to me.
