I am very blessed with a loving husband and a house overflowing with beautiful children but my husband and I live far from any immediate family. He is not catholic but generally supportive of my faith and we are raising our children Catholic. Many of our friends are not Catholic or indeed practising any faith and our parish is small. I think I’m feeling a little isolated spiritually and feel overwhelmed sometimes while functioning daily in an increasingly secular society. Your prayers for my family ,that we might be strengthened , would be greatly appreciated. I sometimes feel like a small rowing boat on a big ocean. Thank you. I will pray for you all too.

similiar situation here. are you able to join in some parish activities, such as volunteerism or maybe being a lecture?

Thank you so much guys. Yes I’ve joined a prayer group and am pretty active in the parish. I’m in my thirties and the other members of my prayer group are a good bit older but wonderful people. It’s so important to get involved in parish life isn’t it? I know a couple of fired up younger Catholics and those with families but unfortunately not very many and there are so few teenagers. It would be great to have a few more dynamic Catholics around too. I’m fairly quiet and shy in large groups but will try my best. I have few problems compared to others in this world so perhaps I should stop moaning!!

It’s OK to moan about this because having company is so important. For several years I had no Catholic friends, not even acquaintances. I just never met people at church and would always meet atheists in all other areas of my life. It was awful. I was so lonely.

Hang in there and pray that God sends good people your way. 🙂

It is a difficult feeling for me, too. Although I have a few Catholic acquaintances, we aren’t really friends. Those who know me a little better have been generally supportive, but it can still seem isolating because they don’t quite understand “that Catholic thing.” 😛
I will keep you in mind, Becca!

Community is so important. I’m currently attending the parish in which I studied RCIA and was confirmed into the Church several years ago. It was the warm loving people there that I responded to, and I wanted to belong. If it weren’t for that community, I may not have entered RCIA and consequently the Church.

I will pray for you that you find a sense of community where you are. And that you never feel lonely or isolated. Remember our Lord said, “I am with you always.” (Matthew 28:20)

And always remember, we are all here for you!

Joyful Blessings to You

Thank you so much all of you for your kind words. You are in my prayers.
