Hi everyone,

I feel sort of bad to keep asking for prayers, but I can’t seem to stop thinking about my feelings of loneliness. Sometimes, I just really wish that I could find a friend my own age who I could relate to. I have so many aquaintences, but I can’t seem to find anyone that I would want to spend time with. It gets frustrating sometimes. I don’t know, I guess it’s just me - I’m not like most teenagers. Anyway, I just ask that I have your prayers. Thank you so much! I will keep all of you in my prayers as well.

I would suggest praying the rosary daily, confessing weekly, and spending time in front of the Blessed Sacrament in adoration. These things have helped me with loneliness. Mother Mary and Jesus are not imaginary friends; rather, they are real, true, faithful, trustworthy friends.

Hang in there. The teenage years (and early twenties) can be very difficult. above all, perservere in the faith. don’t let your loneliness cause you to compromise your beliefs by hanging out with the wrong kind of people. they may seem like they are your friends, but the friendship won’t last. am praying for you.

also, try this: ask God to send you someone who is in need whom you can help. that’s a way to make a friend.

I’m middle aged, married with a 12 year old son and feel lonely a lot. Have felt that way a good portion of my life.

I’d like to think it is God’s way of making us get closer to Him. After all, He said He is a jealous God. 😃

When it gets really bad, I call out to our Lord and Blessed Mother and picture myself giving them a big hug. It helps.

Hang in there. hug

If you have a youth group in your parish, you may like to get involved with them. They usually have specific projects that they get involved in to help others. There are also social events where they can get to know one another better. And, very important, they get to hear speakers that can help tremendously with their spiritual journey to the Lord.

As a teen-ager I had friends, but no best buddies.

Keep asking the Lord to guide you to the friends he wants you to have.

Dear God, I know what it’s like to be lonely, and sometimes it can be overwhelming. But You call to us in our sorrow and draw us closest to you when we are down. Please help our friend to seek You and get to know You better, and give our friend the strenght and love needed to keep moving forward. I ask this through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Amen.

Hang in there. Being a teen is tough. But think of it as the thorn in your side that helps you turn to God, and remember that you’re never alone, no matter how you feel.

Go to a Benediction, it feels like Christ gives you a massive hug!!

I had felt that way a while ago, but more because all of my close friends are Catholics, but not the kind to have many discussions about it or anything. So I really just wanted another Catholic my age to talk with about the Church. Then in the middle of my worst nightmare come true (a liturgical abuse with the Eucharist) God sent me an incredible friend who also was disturbed, and both being out of town, we stayed up for hours talking about everything possible and then wrote a letter to the Archbishop about what we saw. God will always send you what you need, even when you have to wait forever!!!

Read Fr. Paul O’Sullivan’s book “All About the Angels.” This is mandatory 😃 We never are alone. So while you’re waiting for God to allow your perfect friend and you to cross paths, you can be content with the company of your heavenly friend, the only two things they see being you, and the Face of God!!

Loneliness can become healing solitude when you invite the Lord to share that time with you. Be hopeful as loneliness fades and time heals the feelings of emptiness. Look to the world the Lord has made and find solace in the beauty that lies in your wake every day.

I Said A Prayer For You Today
by Frank J. Zamboni

I said a prayer for you today
And know God must have heard.
I felt the answer in my heart
Although He spoke no word!

I didn’t ask for wealth or fame
(I knew you wouldn’t mind).
I asked him to send treasures
Of a far more lasting kind!

I asked that He be near you
At the start of each new day;
To grant you health and blessings
And friends to share your way!

I asked for happiness for you
In all things great and small.
But it was for His loving care
I prayed the most of all!

Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Our Lady of Perpetual Help, pray for us.
St. Philomena, pray for us.
For the sake of His Sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us. Amen.

Remember that you are never alone, God is with you. 🙂

A great quote that I read a while ago is:
“The best way to find a true friend is to be one”

Remember this pro-active side to this equation of wanting a friend and don’t just sit around waiting for one to appear (Maybe you already are, I have no way of knowing.) but actually make an effort to -be a friend- to someone.

Loneliness and relationship

Jesus, Scripture tells us, “It is not good that man should be alone.” [Genesis 2:8] Yet loneliness affects many people even in company because they feel unable to trust in their value to others. They often feel rejected and unloved, and have little self-esteem.

Jesus, we humans hope for companionship that is reciprocal and happy, with love that affirms our individuality and value. We seek in others the gift of ourselves forgiven and accepted in all our faults. We also secretly desire others’ recognition of our hidden beauty. We cannot receive such a gift unless we can also give to others the gift of themselves accepted by love that is aware, not blind.

Express Your love in our relationships as we seek to live in gospel community, not as isolated individuals. For only where individuals and communities are willing to love and to minister to others, do we find in each other the nourishing power of Christ’s presence.

Therefore, let the lonely and hurt understand their need to welcome others in charity in however small or great means open to them, rather than to remain trapped in isolation or self-pity. However if they remain isolated, we offer You their pain, united with the atoning loneliness of Your own earthly exile, in reparation for all sins against compassion, against friendship, justice and unity.

Jesus let us gently bring Your love to the lonely, to all persons who hunger for love and companionship. “God gives the lonely a permanent home.” [Psalm 68:6] 1

Jesus please give him grace to turn to You in his loneliness and need.
Please inspire a caring friend or family to welcome and include him.
Please help him to find companionship and structure for his life.
Surround him with Your light and love,
him, and all in who are lonely and sad.
Thank You, Jesus

Dear St. Raphael, you are honored as a friend and companion to a young person alone in life and on a solitary journey which was physical, emotional, and spiritual, please embrace JA25 with your love and company.
