My four year old just asked me to count to my age (37)ā€¦I did, and was shocked at how long it took.

I dare you to do it, or maybe you shouldnā€™t

oneā€¦twoā€¦threeā€¦

Wellā€¦I have been feeling old latelyā€¦probably because my oldest is fifteen nowā€¦

Counting my age didnā€™t help :o

Hey - wait until youā€™re my age and have a 37 year old daughterā€¦37 isnā€™t old, believe me. You will enjoy your 40s.

Be thankful that your oldest is fifteen and in counting your age you had to go past 29, 30, 31, . . . ! šŸ˜ƒ

With the caveat that this is SOOO minor in the wake of Katrina, the war, etcā€¦ and that I should encourage you to count your blessings or consider the alternative to getting olderā€¦I will make a suggestion that almost always works for me. Go out and buy youself something totally frivolous, unnecessary and indulgent. It could be a box of chocolates, a special bottle of scented lotion/soap/perfume or an oufit, new shoes or piece of jewelery. Make sure whatever it is, you have the shop wrap it up as a gift. Take it home, open up your beautiful package and savor the gift to yourself that you couldnā€™t possibly have justified buying when you were 25ā€“and POOF, recognize that being older does have its benefits!!

:o I feel embarrassedā€¦

I know it is petty and stupidā€¦but it is something I have done for yearsā€¦regret over the passing of time.

Even when I was a little kid ā€œlast yearā€ was always the best year of my lifeā€¦I canā€™t seem to enjoy the nowā€¦I am working on this I promise.

it would take me all day, and I suggest that after you open your gift, (as the above poster suggested) you then box it up and send it to those who were in that disaster and now have nothing.

Maybe not. I hated the big four-oh and every year since. But as the big five-oh approaches, I am starting to think that my 40s werenā€™t so bad and I wish I could hang on to themā€¦

A few weeks ago I was feeling ā€œoldā€ (looking at 40 this month) so I know what you mean. Age never bothered me before or at least, the thought of age never bothered me before. So, I did something I never had to do before, go on a diet. Yes, I used to be one of those lucky ones who could eat whatever I wanted & not have it show, too much. Since then Iā€™ve lost some weight and have more energy too. So I donā€™t feel old anymore.

I think the idea about buying a present is better than my diet thing though šŸ˜ƒ And since my birthdayā€™s coming up . . . .

:amen: to the weight loss thing! And NO! A present is NOT better than getting rid of the sluggish-everything-hurts-I-have-no-energy syndrome! You go girl! And keep it off!

I had a hard time on my birthday this year. I donā€™t know if it is working full time, school of three little ones, and I only turned 25 this year.

Everybody at work wanted to kill me because they are all old enough to be my mother.

My momā€™s says 40ā€™s is the best part of your life.

I have given money for the victims of Katrina, and plan to donate more when the Bishops of the united states ask for it this weekend. My husband and I are discussing taking in a familyā€¦

I thought it was sorta funny when I realized how long it took me to count to my age, and all of those years just flashed before my eyesā€¦but I donā€™t understand how that translates to not being thankful for my blessings?

I guess this isnā€™t the appropriate time for light hearted banter about age and maybe this is not a good threadā€¦but I think Katrina has made me think about how short life on Earth is, and I have always been sad about time passing (i.e. above post) and during disasters I think about it harder.

I now dub thee ā€˜YOUNG AND BEAUTIFULā€™

now go forth and be cuteā€¦:whacky:

Ahhhhā€¦well LSKā€¦thank you for that light hearted banter. I need that todayā€¦ šŸ‘‹

My grad school just accepted some of my 15 year-old college medical records, so I feel younger than I usually do! Just glad I am old enough to keep stuff like this organized and avoid $$$ in new shots!

Okay.

One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, twenty, twenty one, twenty two, twenty three, twenty fourā€¦ šŸ˜ƒ

Anytime, my young and beautiful friend!

Hey, Iā€™ve felt old ever since the doc told me I had arthritis in my hips about 3 or 4 years ago. With the exception of juvenile arthritis, Iā€™ve always thought of arthritis as an old personā€™s disease, so naturally, when the doc confirmed what I already suspected, I began feeling VERY old.

Oh well.

Quiet down and pass the Ben Gayā€¦
