Feeling sad...what is God's will?

I have really been struggling to know what is God’s will for me for quite some time. Just this week it hit me. God’s will is in each day for me. He will for me to be where I am right now. He places the future before me and all I must do is to accept it. If there is no peace in the right now decission I am making, then make the decission that brings peace. If that decission seems to be impossible, give it to God. With him all things are possible. All you have to do is to submit.

I was looking for God’s will for me in the future like I couldn’t reach it, but he has already giving me his will. It is right now where I am.

I hope this makes sense. It is easy to think, but hard to put into words.

dkoinzan,
i really do get it. just today, i posted this:
Mother of God, pray for us NOW. Father in Heaven, give us THIS DAY our daily bread. GH and I realize that’s all we can ask for-- graces NOW. The future is God’s business. How HE will provide for us will not be revealed to us until we get there.
Jean Vanier, the founder of L’Arche Communities for mentally retarded adults, who is also quoted in my signature, said this (paraphrased) "We shouldn’t live in the imagination-- future or past. we should live in reality. live in NOW. that’s where we experience God’s love for us.

In the Hail Mary, we ask Our Blessed Mother to pray for us the only two important moments of our lives-- NOW and the moment of our death. (and the timing of our deaths isn’t usually give to us beforehand. It’s God’s.)

there’s a lot of peace in accepting God’s love today. and obeying HIM today. and loving HIM in this moment.

This makes perfect sense. I appreciate you sharing this with me. I think at times I get caught up in the what if’s and the planning of tomorrows. But, all I have been given for sure is today…and not a moment later. It’s important to plan, but not important (or prudent) to worry about the future. If God were to grant my husband and me another child-we would both realize this is HIS will.

Thank you jrabs for your reply, as well…

Well, this is part humorous, part serious, but since you found out that herring is a way to your husband’s heart, see if you can use that to work on him…

I am feeling a lot better–thanks to you all. Seriously–you all are some fierce prayer warriors I tell ya.👍 I see so many IBM’s on here every day because of your prayers for people, who are having struggles or just need an encouraging word. (IBM’s = itsy bitsy miracles):o Thank you for your kind words…and for making me see…that I’m to just seek God in all things, and let His will unfold. Today’s reflection (from wau.org) is a bit like this (especially the section I chose to bold)…please take a moment to read it, won’t you?

Meditation
John 1:19-28

Readings

We all have identity crises from time to time. “Who am I?” we may ask. “What is my purpose in life? Am I doing what God wants me to do?” When John the Baptist faced these questions, he found it easier to say who he was not!
Despite all the talk about him, John answered plainly that he was neither the Messiah, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet. Rather than focusing on himself, answered in a way that pointed to Jesus. He was “the voice of one crying out in the desert,” whose job was to “make straight the way of the Lord” (John 1:23).

Like John, we need a similar outlook. It is not our job to save people but to help them make living contact with the Savior. We all face the temptation to play God and to try to solve other people’s problems. But we can’t meet everyone’s needs completely—only God can do that. We can certainly share our time, talent, and wisdom, but ultimately we must let every person face his or her own challenges with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

**If we’re trying to do the impossible, it’s no wonder we can feel overwhelmed! The only answer is to remember Jesus’ invitation: “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light” (Matthew 11:28-30). What area of your life feels most overwhelming? Bring it before the Lord today and ask him to help you put things in perspective. Perhaps you have taken on a burden only he is equipped to carry. Let it go and give it to him instead. Then you will feel his joy and energy! Accept the fact that you glorify Jesus much more in your weakness than in trying to prove how much you can do for him. **Ask him to show you the specific role you can play in pointing others to him—then step back so he can satisfy the deepest desires of their hearts!

“Lord, you alone are my Savior—and the Savior of everyone else. Teach me how to work hand in hand with you. When people come into contact with me, may they meet you as well.”*
