Hi everyone, I am posting this because I really need to get this off my chest and at the same time hope to get some advice.
My wife and I are seperated and the divorce is in process, needless to say this is causing grief in my life. We are still talking to each other and it seems that now that we are seperated we have way better communication with each other, which is good. I feel hopeless about this situation and I don’t want to fall into dispair, I have been there before and don’t want to walk down that path again.
I’ve have talked to my spiritual director and what he has told me is to put everything into God’s hands. That if my desire to be with her again is great, then to put this into His hands, pray for her and my marriage, fast, pray the rosary, offer sacrifices, and visit Him in the Blessed Sacrament daily. He told me to let God work in my wife’s life and for me not to interfere, to let her be, this is what my job is right now. I have been trying to do this, and I recognize that this is going to happen in God’s time and not mine. I recognize the fact that things may not turn out in my favor, but I feel as if things are never going to happen. The Lord knows how much I am suffering, how many tears I shed, all this hurts me alot. I pray that He may touch her heart so she can reconcile with Our Lord. I posted a prayer request a few weeks ago for her to lead a life of conversion and she went to mass the next day, but that was the only time that she has gone to church, that I know of.
I have talked to my wife and she told me that she recognizes that she needs help because of the things that have lead to the seperation and divorce. I know that she needs time to be apart from each, and I have not told her once since she has left to come back or cancel the divorce. I told her that I will give her all the time that she needs in order for her to feel better. She also told me that she doesnt want me to be thinking that things are going to get better or not, and to let things be as they are right now. I feel sad because she told me that about 2 years ago she would pray for me to change the way that I was being toward her and in my life. Now that it has happened, now that I know what the true meaning of love is, what it means to truly live a sacramental marriage, and to top it all off I have greater love for her more than ever, we are now seperated and things dont look so good. I know I should not despair but this is how I feel, I am in tears as im typing this. My wife has mentioned to me that what she wants is to do God’s will and not hers. But I think that she really needs to think about what is going on in her life right now to see what God’s will is.
