I have had such a fiasco in the past 2 days that I’m really upset and stressed. I got a letter in the mail stating that my appointment with my psychiatrist has been rescheduled again for a second time! I was supposed to have an appointment on October 26th to get my medication for less, but they rescheduled it to December 6th because my psychiatrist has been out on medical leave and the leave was extended for another month. I was so upset when I read that and I immediately called the clinic and basically chewed them out telling them it was unacceptable that my appointment was rescheduled again. I am in need of therapy and medication and I can’t get either until I see the psychiatrist again, but that isn’t possible if she keeps rescheduling and not giving any options. After about 5 minutes of my persistence, the clerk finally rescheduled me for November 8th with another psychiatrist.
I counted up my medication and I only have enough for 11 days and my appointment is in 19 days. 8 days without medication is not doable because the medication I’m on can cause seizures and withdrawal symptoms if stopped cold turkey. I called the medication manager and asked if there was any way they could help me if I submitted a doctor’s note from my regular doctor, to which they declined. I have not seen my psychiatrist since last November. I was doing well but then had a relapse and my regular doctor put me on an antidepressant and my old anxiety medication. However, since losing my job and my health insurance, I am forced to resort again to socialized healthcare which I hate. The clinic is run by the state government and the clinic workers can be quite rude and arrogant. That is all I got when I tried to get some help.
I am forced to have my mom pay again for a regular refill at the pharmacy for my medication which is quite expensive ($50) when I could get it for $5 if I was allowed to see the psychiatrist.
I ended up crying for about 5 minutes because of the stress and anger I am experiencing. I feel like if I didn’t have my mom to help me out, I would be stranded. It makes me wonder how many other patients are left with nowhere to turn because of the clinic. Plus, I have no guarantee that the clinic will not reschedule again. I will probably write a letter of complaint to the CEO when this blows over a little bit. I’m too upset write now to be rational. Please pray for me!
