Are there any others at your parish in a similar position? Could you work together to start something?

Yes, I think there might be. I am praying more on it, for clear and percise judgement about how to approach it. As mentioned in an earlier post, getting a rosary group started, or maybe daytime adoration hour even if it is in the smaller chapel area. Just something to bring enrichment to the parish. Small steps, I must remember, small steps.

I don’t usually say this word very often - and I mean it as a happy compliment -
You sound like " a trooper " - I LOVE your concern for God’s house.
I’m at mass early, and I see the women come in who are helpers …
it’s such a nice thing to behold…how they go about…tidy things up…arrange things…prepare.
And their almost always friendly - and always ready to volunteer for one of the five rosary recitals.
You sound like that type of gal 🙂

Awwww, thank you. I like “trooper” 🙂 I try very hard to help, even in the smallest of task. Many hands make light work. Since we are a “Mission” area these ladies have worked hard to keep things going. I just wish to contribute to their efforts, not change it.

Congratulations to you and your boys…I’m sorry you’re feeling a little frustrated…I can imagine coming from a Mexican heritage that there are many more feast days…saints days…etc…and a more community centered involvement in church activities than what you’re now experiencing…like many of us who originally came into the church I think we’re all on fire and wanting to get involved in church life as much as we can… it seems the church you’re attending is not what you have been used to… sadly with the shortage of priests many parishes suffer because their priest is probably pushed to the limit with what he can do…it may have been that way for a long time so the parishioners…while being faithful Catholics…may have not wanted to burden their priest further by proposing more church activities…retreats…daily/weekly rosary…stations of the cross…womens/mens groups…etc…you may have to get together with other church members and decide if you all want to do some of these things and then approach your priest…many of those things can be led by laity but would need your priests approval… and with much prayer

It sounds like you might not have any Catholic neighbors, but if you do, how about starting a Rosary group in your home or rotating through the homes of other members? This could be a little seed…

Hello.

April, thank you for your beautiful witness to the faith, and welcome!!!

Can you get yourself on a list for disabled people from another parish?

Please keep posting here, and keep us updated on your progress.

And please pray for me.
