It seems that, along with orange shag carpet, square plywood altars, and ugly pottery vessels, these things are slowly passing away. In my parish, which has ornate Gothic high and side altars left amazingly intact, there is no place for banners.
We have a team of talented folks (male and female) who have just a great sense of design and fabric which enhances our worship. The time and effort they put into their creations is stunning. I wish I had photos to show you what Christmas and Easter look like.
They have also phased out the “bought” altar coverings (i.e. from a commercial liturgical supply house) and replaced them with their own hand creations. The time and effort these folks have expended on their creations is exceptional and they are a worthy offering to HMC.
