Talitha:
And I cannot see how these events, which I believe to be true, could weaken faith, or that they constitute an attack on the Roman Catholic Church.
They undermine the authority of the Church which teaches against female priests.

It does more than that, it breaks the direct line to Peter rendering the Church essentially worthless. (and liars on the grandest scale)

If she is a Nun, then she essentially wasted her life in a church with no authority, instead of having children and marrying. She wasted her life on a false Church.

I have no idea why a nun would come onto a Catholic site and spread such faith damaging allegations with no evidence at all to back it up, it boggles the mind, and empowers our critics greatly, and tramples those questioning their faith, which this site is Chock Full of (me beign one of them), it’s upsetting.

I’m not sure she is a Nun, she said one of her “sisters” this could have been referring to a sibling, or a sister sister. Let’s give her the benefit.

Why are you combining abuse scandals in Ireland with the fable of Pope Joan?
Because if it walks, talks, and smells like a liberal agenda it probably is.

The underlying soft sell here is first post #8 which panders with it “shouldn’t hurt those of true faith” and “go to Rome and seek the truth”, then later siting the alledged abuses by men (those filthy guys in charge) next to the appealing alternative we can have in women; Nuns and the mythical Pope Joan.

Just my 2 cents from perusing the thread.

It may be ad hominem to some, but I bet my bottom dollar…

Peace and God Bless

For those of you interested in the “history” of Hypatia according to our OP’s web-site, read on:

Hypatia

I would have to add that the web-site’s rendition of Hypatia looks strangely similar to Jennifer Love Hewitt. 😉

Do we actually have a count of how many people claim to be Pope right now? My favorite is Pope Michael I. It’s not uncommon at all to have more than one person claiming to be Pope, and slightly less uncommon to have more than one person have a following at one time. In all of the history of the Church, however, there has always been only one actual Pope at any given time, and they are recorded and traced.

Peace and God bless!

Ah, yes. Pope Michael. I believe he is the only “pope” ever elected by his mother.
