I’m from South CIty which is in a different secion of town from all the meyham going on in Ferguson which is in North St. Louis County not to be confused with St. Louis City. One thing an out of towner should know about St. Louis is that while small it’s very diverse. St. Louis City and county have separate governments and police departments. The county separated from the city over 100 years ago. St. Louis County is made up of around 90 small municipalities or suburb townships that each have their own government and atmosphere. North county tends to be a little rougher for example then south cournty or west county. I actually live in South City…pretty safe and about 30 minutes from Ferguson. I have many friends all over who have thought via the news coverage that the whole town is burning. Not so. But Ferguson does need prayers. Folks are coming in from other areas after dark to stir up trouble and loot. Most of those arrested have been from other areas like Welston, Dellwood, East St. Louis in Illinios. Most of the people in Ferguson just want their town back. Please join with me and pray for them. 👍

Praying for the soul of Michael Brown, his attacker and Mr. Brown’s family.

If folks are coming from other areas to stir up trouble, that’s part of the problem. It’s also part of the problem that people who stir up trouble can get TV coverage. If there’s no television coverage, they probably wouldn’t bother to come in.

Yes I blame the media for a lot of it. At one point last night even the media said there were more of them then protesters. They seem to draw out the rough charactors and idiots. Many busines owners are guarding their businesses at night armed. Schools in the area have been canceled for the rest of the week. Where this will all end is anyone’s guest.🤷

I am also from St. Louis. 👍

I think the biggest problem is that with the internet information gets out sooooo fast and the media now a days tries to keep up with it instead of getting all the facts. So we have all this false information floating around that confuses and angers people. It also dosnt help when the police show up in heavier and more advanced military equipment used by your basic solider, this causes fear and panic, it just feeds the protests, it doesn’t defuse the situation. If people didn’t loot and riot then the protesters would have a valid case against federal over reach and police militerization but with the violence the police have an excuse.

This whole situation is a mess. I hope it will cause some people to look away from People magazine and realize that America is declining and needs their voice to fix it.

The world is burning and all people care about is pop culture.

Let us pray for all this civil unrest, violence and hatred to be healed by our Lord!!

In Aus. we are getting nightly updates on this. It is so bizarre that this sort of lawlessness can happen in the most civilised country in the world. It doesn’t seem like a race thing because half the police are black African Americans. From our perspective we are witnessing the result of a shameful disrespect for the authority of police. If the police officer was a rogue nutter, he should just be investigated and arrested. If the victim was a genuine worrisome criminal, that needs to be acknowledged for the sake of perspective and balance.

We here are following with a soap operatic type interest.

So Sad. I heard many of the pastors are helping to calm the crowds. But the outsiders have different goals. Sending Prayers for Michael, his family, the officer and his family…also for all the protestors and shop owners. May God’s Love and Light shine on Ferguson.

Thank you for explaining how your system works,to an outsider,
you seem to have a confusing system of Government and law,
I know it all seems to work, but could there be a better way ?
Such as only one police force controlled by the state government …
Instead of 90 municipalities , how about 10 ?

What you have in Ferguson is a lower middle class area on the brink of coming back from a bad turn of years being pushed back in poverty again. There’s a lot of anger among certain cultures in our country and many feel entitled to their way no matter what and want people to pay for what they believe is years of mistreatment. I’m not going to argue the point of any of that since I’ve always treated everyone the same with respect and I can’t help how folks were treated before I was born. My parents never taught me to treat anyone with anything but respect. They were also involved in the civil right movement back in the 60s/70s till things back then to a more violent turn. I think for the most part all these rioters and looters have nothing better to do and are looking for attention which is what the media here is pandering too. They seem to be moving protests to Clayton (the capital so to speak of St. Louis County government). There’s a grand jury meeting there to discuss if any charges should be filed. This may take months just for that. Whatever the truth is of the actual incident there will always be people that won’t accept it.

Yeah I’m boycotting the news when they mention it I turn it off.

St. Louis is an old city which was settle by many different cultures (french, spanish, irish, germans, italians, just about everybody most lately Bosnians, Arabs and Hispaninics and Chinese. Every group claimed a section of town as theirs and started their own area. The suburbs for whatever reason separated from the city 100 years ago. There’s always talk of uniting the city and county goverments but I doubt it will happen soon if ever. Actually this year the city has been pretty quiet. Who knew the county would make all the news. I think the criminal elements just moved locations.
