I am doing some studying about the onset of fetal nervous sensations of pain. One study says that at 8 weeks, a sufficient portion of the nervous structures, motor and sensory nerves, and connections to the brain are present for sensing pain.
Another, which was apparently commissed by the former lawyer for NARAL, claims that these actions at 8 weeks are reflexive and that real pain does not occur until 28 weeks.
Granted, the question is irrelevant to the immoral nature of abortion because pain is not a criterion for immorality, but I am interested to know insofar as this is something that might sway someone on the fence.
