Can anyone explain how these people live like this, and still have Christian followers, when Jesus made it very clear what he thought of the rich???
Because they are mis-leading sheep. 🤷 Webster.com below

Sheep

1: any of various hollow-horned typically gregarious ruminant mammals (genus Ovis) related to the goats but stockier and lacking a beard in the male; specifically : one (O. aries) long domesticated especially for its flesh and wool
2 a timid defenseless creature
b a timid docile person; especially : one easily influenced or led

I just got sick looking at the homes of these evangelists. So sick, I can’t find words.

Dear Hello All,

When you want to post the link, simply go to the very first line of the site you are watching, highlight it and copy the entire website address. Your thread looks like this: forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?t=720487 Now paste this link in your message.

Now when you really want to be professional, you can do it this way:

Copy the url from the top line. forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?t=720487.
Type the title you want to give it, such as, “here is the link.”
Highlight the title you just typed.
Click the “insert link” icon (the first one in the second line of format options next to “increase indent.”
Delete the “http” because your link will already have it, and if you insert another http, you’ll have an error in your link."
Hit OK.
This is how it will look: Here is the link.

Now for the Youtube link. One way to post it is: youtube.com/watch?v=azqoBksweZA
The other way is how Itwin did it in post #16…/QUO

Thanks a million for you help! I apologize for being late w/ my acknowledgement.Just returned from OOT travel.🙂

It is unfathomable that these TeleEvangelists, live like a King and Queen,at the expense of gullible, possibly brainwashed Christians. They used the BIBLE ,as their business tool to amass ill gotten wealth! Shame on them!

It’s all gossip. Paul put gossip on the same level as murder. Let them do what they are doing and forget about it.

***“We have to act in such a way that others will be able to say, when they meet us; this man is a Christian, because he dees not hate, because he is willing to understand, because he is not a fanatic, because he is willing to make sacrifices, because he shows that he is a man of peace, because he knows how to love.” **
  • St. Josemaria Escriva*
When people look at us, they should see something which makes them interested, something that provolks them to ask how we have become different from what they see in the world, something which makes them ask how they can become like us, and even if they don’t realize that they are asking it, how they can become like Christ.

Insulting two TV preachers, gloating over the fact that they are fighting and posting videos of their debacle is not the way to get people to ask us about these things. It just makes us look like children and confirms every steriotypical caricature of Christians as hypocrites.

When I read that Joyce Meyers bought million-dollar homes for all of her children, besides her own mansion, I can’t even fathom how she justifies this.

Many of these TV “hookers” call for donations and financial support, supposedly to take their ministry to many countries and keep on the air. Boy are folks ever gullible. Who helped to pay for their homes? The list is so long, too - not one of them lives modestly in order to give witness to the gospel’s evangelical counsels.

I used to contribute to “Food for the Poor” until I saw that their CEO earns in the neighborhood of $340,000.

Battle of the plastic evangelists! Betcha God wants them to make millions having a cage match on pay per view! 😃

If you are going to give money to feed the poor give it to an arm of Catholic Relief Services. Over 96 cents of every dollar actually gets to the people for which it is intended. And you can check out the homes of the priests and nuns and volunteers who make this organization work in third world countries. They live with the people they help.

No one compares to the Catholic Church in effeciency and effectiveness in feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, giving shelter to the homeless and providing medical care that recognizes the dignity of every person. There are too many “charitable organizations” headed by people who use the poor for their self enrichment. And too many “preachers” who use the human longing for God for the same reason.

I understimated the CEO’s salary, since I hadn’t reviewed this site in awhile. He is now receiving $388,979 annually.

Shortly after I found this out, I started contributing to Fr. Ho Lung’s Missionaries of the Poor. He’s been on ETWN quite often showing their tremendous need to build additonal housing for the orphans he serves in Haiti. After the devastation of the hurricane compounded by the earthquake, there are a lot of refugees.

Thanks for the information about C.R.S. I hadn’t thought about that one. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if all of these televangelists would give of their surplus rather than build sumptuous palaces with 17 bathrooms? Surely, they don’t use them all.

Before we get all torqued up on the size of their homes let us remember it is written " thou shalt not muzzle the oxen thrashing the grain" something like that. I have heard this verse being used to support these preachers and their posh.

I am not sure what you mean by this.In taking money that could be used for the needy, and in encouraging people to run after possessions and wealth instead of following Jesus’s path, how are they ‘threshing the grain’?
( Not being sarcastic here- I genuinely don’t take your meaning}

Thanks for posting this! It’s exactly the info I was looking for earlier today ; )

I looked up Catholic Relief Services on the website Sirach provided above. The leader of Catholic Relief Services–I think his name is Ken Hackett-- gets $325,000. per year, according to the site—not much less than Food for the Hungry’s leader receives.

That’s weird—how is that website coming up with these figures?

Edit—Ken Hackett is listed as CEO of CRS for 2011, but a woman seems to be CEO this year, according to that same site.

I meant “Food for the Poor” here, not Food for the Hungry—sorry.

I just checked on Missionaries for the Poor. I don’t understand the low rating of 2? Their fund raising expenses are only $216, and their CEO earns $54,801. Quite a difference, huh? Their hut won’t make quite the splash when it falls as the super stars on TV.

There’s been a lot of public controversy about Fr. Frank Pavone from his Bishop regarding the finances of his organization. Checking this website, there are some glaring red X’s in the area of fiscal reporting.

Form 990 is the government’s required filing for 501(3) tax-exempt organizations, and they haven’t filed one. These are available to the public for viewing.

This was interesting with regard to Joyce Meyer Ministries …

For some reason, a Protestant organization comes up when you search for Missionaries of the Poor on that website, Charity Navigator. It’s that Protestant organization whose CEO gets paid $54K.

Missionaries of the Poor does look like an excellent charity, though. I noticed all the brothers have taken a vow of poverty, and Fr. Ho Lung seems to be a “tent maker” missionary with his music endeavours.

I looked up a few more charities, Catholic, Protestant, ecumenical, and secular, and I’m surprised to see that many CEO’s of medium sized charities receive $115-150K in salary. That seems like a lot to me given that these are charities for the poor. But Charity Navigator states that $150K CEO salary for a charity is average—the charities need to attract skilled and talented CEO’s to run the organization. 🤷

On another note, though I’m no Joyce Meyer fan by a long ways, she’s been getting most of her money from royalties on her many books. If people want to buy her books and make her rich, well, they’re adults and I don’t see it as any of my business.
