Jude the apostole mentions this Oral Tradition- but can anybody tell me how the story really goes? I know it has something to do with idolatry.

Thanks! I wish you God’s blessings!

I forget if the story is recorded in the book of Enoch or in the Assumption of Moses. For more detail look for a book online called legends of the Jews.

In short, the Jewish people worshipped many false gods, like the golden calf for example. The concern with hidding Moses body, was to keep satan from tempting the Jewish people into worshipping it as an idol.

Josephus records that Moses was assumed into heaven.

Other Jewish sources, support the claim that Moses really died and was resurrected.

Since, Moses murdered a man, Satan would be making a leagal claim to Moses for that sin.

Was Moses assumed into heaven as Josephus records. Could well be as he and Elijah spoke with Jesus on the Mount of the Transfiguration and they had bodies because Peter and the other two saw them.

or we could go with the end of the torah, where Moses died and thus was not assumed to heaven in his earthly body. Since Jude says they were fighting over MOses’ body, that implies that his body was dead. Thus they could have seen an translated body on Elijah and a ressurrected body on Moses.

Mathew 27 : 51 - 62 ’ And behold, the veil of the sanctuary was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth quaked, rocks were split , tombs were opened and the bodies of many who had fallen asleep were raised .’
Code:
Moses, St.Joseph , the patriarchal Fathers......were they among these saintly persons .....
And their angels , who always behold the Face of The Father , there to welcome them !

May any and all holy angels that have been grieved by our trangressions , obtain us pardon, through the intercession of our bl.Mother , and by the Infinite Merits of our Lord !
