Canada doesn’t seem to allow those with pre-existing conditions as severe as mine to become citizens.
So you praise the Canadian system that refuses coverae for preexisting condiitons but you demonize private insurers for the same thing?

Um…when did I praise Canada’s system as being perfect? Point it out please. I mean, just think about it, I live in Washington state, a stone’s throw away from Canada. Why would I be moving ALL THE WAY TO EUROPE if I thought Canada was the bees knees?

Haven’t you been advocating government provided health care?

Considering I’m moving to Netherlands, which has a free market system.

Um…

No?

My problem is with the rampant discrimination and bigotry in this country, which extends into medical care and health insurance. I’m moving to a country that has a free market system, but none of the bigotry, that alone solves all of my medical problems. My medical problems here are more a symptom of the social backwardsness of the US than the medical system.

Too bad the No-judgement Texas project got off the ground due to the econemy tanking. You would have had a place to call home whtout having to emigrate overseas.

Pathia,
I hope I do not have you confused with someone else, but I think I recall your not wanting to get on public aid and continuing to work as much as you could for that reason?

Sorry to hear about your legs, I hope you are feeling better.

You remember correctly, what is your question then?

Do you mean mandated government prohibition on setting prices based on market considerations? That is not a free market.

They are allowed to set prices, merely everyone in an age groups pays an average determined BY THE COMPANY, rather than every single person getting a different quotes.

Are they prohibited from charging people different rates?

It’s done by age groups. 20-25, 26-30 etc, and with each age group they can charge whatever they feel is competitive and offer/not offer whatever services they think would give them a competitive advantage.

Everyone within the age group gets the same price. It’s like a giant group based on ages, instead of company. Companies in the US pay the same rate per employee covered to a insurance company, no matter how healthy or unhealthy, this just makes the group age based, instead of company based. Why is OK when a company does it for its employees, but bad when done by age groups?

When a company is allowed to charge whatever it wants to people, you get the $800 a month with a $10,000 deductible and no prescription drug prices that I get. It’s pointless to get that coverage, absolutely pointless. Under our current system, the only plans that would be sold to be would have me sink 95%+ of my income into the premium and deductible before I got any coverage. It’s madness.

So They are permitted to not cover pre existing conditions? or not cover a variety of high cost rare conditions? or experimental treatments?

I think pre-existing conditions are mandatory, the rest are open to differentiation. Hell even the GOP here is going to push for coverage of pre-existing conditions, you’re against that too? My pre-existing conditions came before I was 18, arguably before I was even BORN.

I’ll keep the American System But if you want to go to another system, have at it.

Not sure when I will be able to leave, I can barely walk anymore. Whether I can leave at all is at stake now. If I can’t walk I don’t know what I am going to do. I had a clot hit my brain, it was basically a stroke but they aren’t calling that, not sure. Disability is inevitable now I think.

I can barely walk, I don’t know if I will ever work again and it was all from something that wouldn’t have happened if I had chronic care. People ask my I want something different, its pretty danged obvious to me. My life is ruined and I am only 29. It didn’t have to be this way, I should have fled ten years ago

All because of two things. Amercian biogotry, and Amercan failure of the financial end of the healthcare systen. If it fails one it is a failure. Our healthcare financial system is a joke.

It may not be perfect, but its advantages outweigh its disadvantages. Although some may be inclined to complain, there are over 300,000,000 people here instead of anywhere else in the world. Besides, many people from around the world come to America to get quality care and America exports tremendous technology, and products such as diagnostic machinery, procedures, and medicines.

And the great thing is you are free to leave when ever you would like.

When National healthcare takes over as the new system remember that when you compalin about the system. Like Pathia said one needs to be rid of ALL debt before they emigrate to most countries. I wouldn’t qualify either. Plus there is an inability of learning a new language. But when National healthcare takes over, whats good for the goose is good for the gander and you can leave when it’s implicated. For all the times you told some of us to leave, it would be extremely hypocritical for you to stay and complain about the new system rather than just leave like you told some of us to. You may forget that when it happens, but you can bet your life that I won’t.
