Fight the Power!

I am a Catholic faithful to Christ and to the magisterium of the Church. However, more and more I find myself among lukewarm Catholics, those trying to change the liturgy, and those who are out and out dissenters. Check out my other posts to read about my experiences with Liberation Theology in Latin America. I am interested in hearing what struggles you have had in the area of those who sow confusion, doubt, and dissent within our mother the Church and use her as their pawn in their game of power and politics. How did you deal with it? Are you still fighting against it? Have you given up? Need prayers? We can support each other in word and prayer! God bless you

I’m in the same boat, give up ? heck no I’m Irish don’t forget but it is a pain in the butt, but I’ll take a kick in the butt for Jesus anyday than bend to those other desenters, but they are still my brothers and sisters, God Bless them.

Quite disappointing to find myself and one other person the only ones who give a care about the liturgical abuse in our parish. Everyone is into the liberal warm-fuzzies and the priest takes some mighty liberalities with the Mass. I want to give up sometimes, but this is the only parish near here and the faithful need to know what’s right. You’ve heard the saying “the devil’s in the details.” It’s just the opposite in the Roman Catholic Church, Christ is found in the minutest details of our faith. To trample on the details is to abuse Christ.

Our parish is hopelessly liberal. In the school, the kids go to First Holy Communion without having gone to First Confession. (I had to teach both my kids about Confession and take them. So why am I paying tuition?) Liturgical abuses abound from omitting parts of the Mass, adding things to the Mass, etc. I won’t even talk about the placement of the tabernacle. (Being a Pre-cana couple was a special case in itself!)

Sometimes I feel so alone and I feel like giving up. We used to try to talk to the new pastor but he has his hands full with a staff of lay people who think that each has some type of hotline to God. The arrogance of these people is astounding! When we first joined this parish, we joined everything but when we saw what was going on, we asked questions and became personnae non grata. There are a few other families with the same leanings so we stick together. But, none of us participates in Church activities. We are simply not welcome.

We do worship frequently at a church that is faithful to the Magisterium. Its a bit of a drive but we do it when we can. We also get great joy from going to other churches when were on vacation.

We are relocating to a different part of the state at the end of the year. I have already done some research into the parishes in the area and have found one that I think is faithful. However, with this experience under my belt, I am always going to be cautious. There is a church about 30 miles away (in the new area) that has a Latin Mass once a month so I might check that out when we get settled in.
