Fighting against attacks on the "Racist" RCC

Ugh this is really getting old. My Mormon relatives will find ANYTHING wrong with Mother Church to keep me from getting baptized next week. And with that glorious day aproaching, the attacks are getting worse and more stupid imo.

My aunt basically told me that the Catholic church is racist. Please. I brought up the fact that the Mormon church denied our wonderful Black brothers from recieving any priesthood until the 1970’s, after egregious attacks against the Mormon faith. That shut her up quick!

But the problem I’m having is I want to be able to quickly come back with a defense. And without the proper resources I can’t do that. What would be a way I could defend Mother Church against these ridiculous accusations that she is racist?

Without providing resources (which I don’t have, alas), you can turn it around on her and ask HER to prove her statements.

That should give you a bit of time to regroup.

What are her arguments for the Church being racist? Racism is against Church teaching and values. Your friend could be referring to some people she knows who might claim to be Catholic, and therefore, your friend assumes all Catholics are racist.

The CATHOLIC Church is God’s church THROUGHOUT THE WORLD. We have african saints stretching back into antiquity. Some believe the St. Augustine had dark skin.

How many non mid-western men are in the HIGHEST echelons of leadership like there are in the Catholic Church. Multi-culturalism is one of the temporal facets I love MOST about the Church.

The Mormons PLEASE! Founded in America in the 19th c.- admitting blacks into their priesthood in the 70’s because of a “revelation” read pressure. Oh, come on. . .

Look up Japanese, latino, African, Metzezo (sp?) saints on the net and give this to her.

Heck, we may have had an african pope in the person of Card. Arinse but this was not the Holy Spirits will.

The Catholic Church is becoming the Church of the third world as in these countries the Church is finding a rich garden of vocations.

Big picture- the Mormon Church is American- the Catholic Church is well, Catholic.

The Catholic Church cannot be racist, because She acknowledges that humankind descends from an original couple, and that the same human dignity is therefore to be recognized in all its members.

Well, we have some black Cardinals, bishops. Do the Mormons? Any Mormon Popes visit Africa lately? Ours has.

My family is the same. There is no need or good to defend the Church, either they love you, or they do not. Jesus was a lamb, but also a sword.

My conversion was a living hell as well. Dont worry, all will be fine in a few days, soon you will weep at the smell of Chrism, and hunger for the taste of flesh and blood. I doupted my own baptism till the time I was dunked.
