Final straw for me to leave Catholicism

The Op is a fellow Christian who is hurting and needs assistance. He has life experiences that always made his responses richer, if only for the price he paid for them. Maybe this tangent can be addressed in another thread.

I’m a US Military Veteran and I view him as a domestic enemy who I swore to protect the US Constitution from.
Listen, dude: I like you as a poster. I agree with you more often than not. I’d want to have a beer with you in real life. But I think you should at least consider the possibility that you’re being a bit hysterical here. You seem to be spiraling a bit, both about Trump and gay priests. I think you need to sit back, go for a long walk, breathe, and just try to turn your brain off for a bit.

Self control is related to abusing people. I have never said it is otherwise. You are saying self control has to do with having a partner. A priest who is gay has the ability to not abuse people just as much as a straight person. That is self control. I don’t know why you are talking about self control related to how many girlfriends you have had. If I have 5 girlfriends in my life as compared to 2, you are saying I lack self control

Thanks for your service. May I ask where you served? We disagree on Trump but that is irrelevant to our love of America.

That’s patently false. Gay people on average have 5-6 times the number of sexual partners than straight people. No, it doesn’t mean all gay people have less self-control, but on average they do.
That’s not because they’re gay. It’s because they’re men. If straight men could have casual sex as easily as gay men, they would. Women are the limiting factor here.

I’m just a bear, but I approve this message. OP, you’ve been through some heavy stuff lately. Take a few minutes to breathe. A lot of what you are posting is logically contradicting itself as well as being a bit over the top.

Nobody here wants you to lose your faith, and we all have rotten times when other Catholics, including clergy, are just mega frustrating. At those times we are best off taking our frustration to Jesus directly. Church shopping doesn’t help because I guarantee you that every one of them has a basket of problems AND We have the Real Presence and Jesus as our founder, not King Henry VIII or whoever.

I no longer believe the Catholic teachings on its supernatural founding by Jesus, and about many other things.

I do believe a god exists, but there are Universalist and Episcopal Churches near me which I will be checking out. …

Lastly, Jesus is Love. Gay men raping children isn’t love. Yet THOUSANDS of times it happened, and bishops and cardinals all over are complicit, half gay themselves most likely, I have many other issues but for now I’m going to just call myself “theist.”
Do not leave Jesus because of Judas. Yes, there are many clerics in the Church who have done horrible things. There must be a change in how the Church deals with sexual abuse. The problem I see in your reasoning is that you believe that unless the Church is spotless with no scandal, then it cannot be the true Church. Yet we see that Peter denied Jesus three times, the disciples left Jesus when he was arrested in the garden of Gethsemane, and Judas brought the crowds unto our saviour.

Even from the beginning of Christianity, fallible men have done bad things that scandalized the Church, does this mean we jump ship?

Consider this story in the gospel of Mark:
36 And sending away the multitude, they take him even as he was in the ship: and there were other ships with him.
37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that the ship was filled.

38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, sleeping upon a pillow; and they awake him, and say to him: Master, doth it not concern thee that we perish?

39 And rising up, he rebuked the wind, and said to the sea: Peace, be still. And the wind ceased: and there was made a great calm.

40 And he said to them: Why are you fearful? have you not faith yet? And they feared exceedingly: and they said one to another: Who is this (thinkest thou) that both wind and sea obey him?
Think of the wind and the waves as that of scandal, the boat as the Church, the disciples as the followers of Jesus, and Jesus is Jesus. What can we learn from this? We can learn that when scandal rocks the boat, and the disciples start to lose faith, we have to remember the words of our lord, "Why are you fearful? Have you not faith yet?

I know these scandals cause people to loose faith, that is what the devil wants. To hurt the bride of Christ so people will leave the Church which Christ founded and is the arc of salvation. But we must have faith in Christ, even when the strong winds and rising waves of scandal are upon us.

I pray you consider my words

Oh and I think Scripture prophesied this event of the Catholic Church having a catastrophic collapse:
Isaiah 1:4-8
Woe to the sinful nation,
a people whose guilt is great,
a brood of evildoers,
children given to corruption!
They have forsaken the Lord;
they have spurned the Holy One of Israel
and turned their backs on him.

5 Why should you be beaten anymore?
Why do you persist in rebellion?
Your whole head is injured,
your whole heart afflicted.
6 From the sole of your foot to the top of your head
there is no soundness—
only wounds and welts
and open sores,
not cleansed or bandaged
or soothed with olive oil.

7 Your country is desolate,
your cities burned with fire;
your fields are being stripped by foreigners
right before you,
laid waste as when overthrown by strangers.
8 Daughter Zion is left
like a shelter in a vineyard,
like a hut in a cucumber field,
like a city under siege.
I have a feeling this has to do with the fall of Israel, not the Catholic Church. Given that the Church is a global institution and not just a kingdom like Israel, which had fallen multiple times.

Also the prophecies contained in the first part of the book of Isaiah refer to the period in which Isaiah himself lived. In the year 738 the political horizon of the Near East was overshadowed by the growing threat of the military strength of Assyria, which was ruled at the time by Tiglath- Pileser III (724727). The northern kingdom (Israel) had fallen to the Assyrians in 721, and Judah, in the south, had become a vassal of Assyria and was about to succumb politically and spiritually in the reign of Ahaz.

So it does seem to make sense that this passage has to do with Israel

Bad luck . broken mirror Catholic Living
We are sincerely sorry to hear of your struggles. However, the CA Forums are unfortunately not set up to provide intensive spiritual counseling. Our best advice is for you to seek out a good priest on the local level who knows you or can get to know you because he’ll be treating you in the most fruitful counseling environment: a three-dimensional one. You may also wish to consider getting other support on the local level from a licensed counselor who is respectful of your Catholic Faith. Regard…

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

9 “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! 12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

15 “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

28 When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, 29 because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.

GOP Catholics and stuffy old white rich men are a big reason I’m leaving also.
human politics and race are two things one should not use as a reason to leave our lord Jesus. Please, take a second to breathe, pray, and talk to someone like a trusted priest and air your grievances

Not me. I won’t abandon the Catholic Church when she is going through trials. But good luck in your search, and I hope you find peace in what you are looking for.
I hope you will not start a bunch of threads on this topic. We hate to see you go.

No because if that were true, straight men would also have 5-6 times number of partners as straight women on average, yet they’re only 20% more.

So, God wants us to commit murder by abortion? Where is that in the bible prophesy?
