Finally, Catholic Answers comes clean with the mormon threat ownership.

Thus, it is technically true to say that Jesus and Satan are “brothers,” in the sense that both have the same spiritual parent, God the Father.

However, critics do not provide the context for the idea that Christ and Lucifer were brothers. Cain and Abel were also brothers, and yet no Bible reader believes that they are spiritual equals or equally admirable. In a similar way, Latter-day Saints do not believe that Jesus and Satan are equals. Nothing is as equally evil as Jesus is good nor is Jesus power the opposite of Satan’s (See Moses 4:3). The Book of Mormon also states that the opposite of Christ and God is nothingness (See 2 Nephi 2 10-15), not Satan.

The scriptures clearly teach the superiority of Jesus over the devil and that Michael (or Adam) and Lucifer (Satan) and their followers fought against each other (See Revelation 12:7-8) to uphold the plan of the Father and the Son. Critics also ignore the Biblical references that imply that Satan is one of the “sons of God.” (See Job:16, Job 2:1)
I don’t think anybody thinks Mormons believe Jesus and Satan have equal power or authority. That isn’t an issue. The mere assertion that Jesus and Satan are “brothers,” even unequal brothers, is unacceptable to Catholics, Orthodox and Protestants. We all believe that Jesus is the Creator, whereas Satan is just a created being.

Not true. I have linked websites that provide possible answers to questions. One can go to www.fairlds.org or www.lightplanet.com for information. Also one can go to www.ldsforums.net for discussion with mormons on the issues.

I even posted this link that goes into the details between catholicism and mormonism.

lightplanet.com/mormons/daily/interfaith/Catholic_EOM.htm
just for the record, none of these sites has any authority to speak for the LDS church and tend to be used as missionary sites to gain converts.

What is illogical is, for a church that was instituted 2000 years ago to have people coming halfway in the timeline with no documents, proofs, theological evidence or traditional understanding and propagate and actually believe their ‘mormonism’ and other schismatic beliefs are correct.

Finding ‘old scrolls’ here and there are hardly the basis of evidence, if someone hated jesus, the only way back then amongst the people was to write about it and proclaim it, ‘old scrolls’ ring a bell.

You don’t even need the scriptures to refute Mormonism, you need natural law and a bit of meta-physics and civic virtue understanding.

Done.

Good post. If you go to my linked sites you can read about it. I posted them in response to another poster.

Who created satan if not god? And why was satan created? How did satan become satan? These are good questions. And it seems that the mormons have answers.
Mormons are not unique in that they have answers that no one else has.

One reason that I am a Catholic, and not something else, including Mormon, it that the doctrines of the Church make sense, there are answers to my questions, and, unlike Mormonism, Catholicism is monotheistic. There are many things about Mormon Doctrine that I reject, but principal among them is that Mormons are polytheistic.

So I belong to the church founded by Jesus Christ, instead of the one founded by Martin Luther or John Calvin or Joseph Smith.

You can go to this site and read all about it. There are several articles from the mormonaplogetic site about jesus and satan as brothers.

fairlds.org/apol/ai222.html
None of those links change what MarysRoses concluded…the answer to the question, do mormons believe Jesus and Satan are brothers is YES. Those links support this mormon doctrine.

As antimormon sites are designed to falsify mormonism. However, the sites that I listed are for educational purposes. If I wanted to find answers about catholicism, should I head over to anti sites or to Catholic Answers…you decide. 🙂

no sites that warn against the dangers of mormonism are intended to do just that not to falsify anything. do you object to antidrug, antipornography or antiviolence sites as well? of the sites you listed only FAIR even claims to be educational. If you wanted to answers about catholicism you can find the catechism online and see for yourself what the doctrine is. you don’t have to go and have a bunch of folks argue personal opinions about it. I would also add that the LDS folks have a track record of not being forthright with doctrine. If you want to look up anticatholic information I’m okay with that as long as you verify sources. I think Catholicism stands up to scrutiny quite well and I don’t think we should be hiding anything. I didn’t tell anyone not to go to your links either, I just made sure that it was an informed decision. I frequently link to www.lds.org myself. FAIR and those other sites don’t scare me and as long as folks will verify sources for any claims then I think the truth will prevail.

=why me;3382585]Jesus and satan as brothers. From the fairlds wiki:
…God the Father also had many other spirit children, created in His image and that of His Only Begotten. These children include all humans born on the earth. Some of God’s children rebelled against Him, and contested the choice of Jesus as Savior. (See D&C 76:25–27). The leader of these children was Lucifer, or Satan. Those spirit children of God who followed Satan in his rebellion against Christ are sometimes referred to as “demons,” or “devils.” (See Moses 4:1–4, Abraham 3:24–28).
New American Bible John 1: 1-6

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2 He was in the beginning with God.

3 All things came to be through him, and without him nothing came to be. What came to be

4 through him was life, and this life was the light of the human race;

5 the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
form the Gospel we see that in the beginning was God and Jesus. and through Jesus God created all of creation.
Thus, it is technically true to say that Jesus and Satan are “brothers,” in the sense that both have the same spiritual parent, God the Father.
NO thus Lucifer was yet just another creation of God through Jesus
However, critics do not provide the context for the idea that Christ and Lucifer were brothers. Cain and Abel were also brothers, and yet no Bible reader believes that they are spiritual equals or equally admirable. In a similar way, Latter-day Saints do not believe that Jesus and Satan are equals. Nothing is as equally evil as Jesus is good nor is Jesus power the opposite of Satan’s (See Moses 4:3). The Book of Mormon also states that the opposite of Christ and God is nothingness (See 2 Nephi 2 10-15), not Satan.
But as shown above we see that this isi a false teaching.
As ST. Miachael is an Arch Angel and Adam was A human created form the clay of the earth they are separate creations. Satan was the Angel Lucifer. Not a son as you imply, but are all creation comes from God. in the very broadest terms all of creation is God children this.
Now we can understand why some Latter-day Saints have tended to focus on Christ’s Sonship as opposed to His Godhood. As members of earthly families, we can relate to Him as a child, as a Son, and as a Brother because we know how that feels. We can personalize that relationship because we ourselves are children, sons and daughters, brothers and sisters. For some it may be more difficult to relate to Him as a God. And so in an attempt to draw closer to Christ and to cultivate warm and personal feelings toward Him, some tend to humanize Him, sometimes at the expense of acknowledging His Divinity. So let us be very clear on this point: it is true that Jesus was our Elder Brother in the premortal life, but we believe that in this life it is crucial that we become “born again” as His sons and daughters in the gospel covenant.[3]
What more do I need to draw upon to know the love Christ had for us than his Passion and Crusifiction.

Early Christian Evidence
The early pre-nicene Church father Lactantius wrote:
Code:
Since God was possessed of the greatest foresight for planning, and of the greatest skill for carrying out in action, before He commenced this business of the world,--inasmuch as there was in Him, and always is, the fountain of full and most complete goodness,--in order that goodness might spring as a stream from Him, and might flow forth afar, He produced a Spirit like to Himself, who might be endowed with the perfections of God the Father... Then He made another being, in whom the disposition of the divine origin did not remain. Therefore he was infected with his own envy as with poison, and passed from good to evil; and at his own will, which had been given to him by God unfettered, he acquired for himself a contrary name. From which it appears that the source of all evils is envy. For he envied his predecessor, who through his steadfastness is acceptable and dear to God the Father. This being, who from good became evil by his own act, is called by the Greeks diabolus: we call him accuser, because he reports to God the faults to which he himself entices us. God, therefore, when He began the fabric of the world, set over the whole work that first and greatest Son, and used Him at the same time as a counselor and artificer, in planning, arranging, and accomplishing, since He is complete both in knowledge, and judgment, and power... [4]
could you produce a like to this Quote.
Many things he here taught are not considered “orthodox” by today’s standards. However, Lactantius was definitely orthodox during his lifetime. Amazingly, many things here correspond to LDS doctrine precisely in those areas that are “unorthodox.” For example,
  1. “He produced a Spirit like to Himself,” namely Christ. Christ, in this sense, is not the “co-equal,” “eternally begotten,” “same substance” “persona” of the later creeds.
  2. “Then he made another being, in whom the disposition of the divine origin did not remain.” God made another spirit who rebelled and who fell from his exalted status. He is the diabolus.
  3. Christ is the “first and greatest Son.” Not the “only” son.
  4. Lastly, since the diabolus and Christ are both spirit sons of God, they are spirit brothers.
that why we have the whole of the church and do not leave thing to individual interpretation.
Jesus, Satan, and all humanity share God the Father as their spiritual sire. However, moral agency led Jesus to obey God the Father perfectly and share fully in the Father’s divine nature and power. The same agency led Satan to renounce God, fight Jesus, and doom himself to eternal damnation. The remainder of God’s children—all of us—have the choice to follow the route chosen by Satan, or the path to which Christ invites us and shows the way.
maximized that potential, and Satan squandered it.
Correctly state Form God through Jesus all have been created. and can chose like Lucifer to reject God and his son or follow Gods and Jesus and be brought into there Glory.

Who created Jesus and who created Lucifer? And how did satan become satan? I can not say that MarysRoses read the sites but they would answer her questions.
whyme, I recommend that you sign up for the RCIA at your local parish.

Until then, Catholic doctrine is that Jesus is uncreated, He is God Incarnate.

God created the angels, Satan is a fallen angel. God created angels as good, Satan became evil by his own doing.

Angels and humans are not the same thing. Angels are not our brothers and sisters. From the Catholic Catechism:

60. Who are the angels?
328-333
350-351
The angels are purely spiritual creatures, incorporeal, invisible, immortal, and personal beings endowed with intelligence and will. They ceaselessly contemplate God face-to-face and they glorify him. They serve him and are his messengers in the accomplishment ofhis saving mission to all.

Rebecca, Whyme is a Mormon. In their view, Jesus, as well as God, who they usually call “Heavenly Father”, are exalted humans. In other words, at some point in the past they were humans who progressed to become Gods.

It is difficult to discuss theology with Mormons because you have to carefully define the terms. For example, when they say “trinity” they mean something completely different than the Catholic understanding of the word. It’s as if you’re speaking the same words as someone else, but you’re speaking two different languages.

The differences are so extreme that when Mormons become Catholic, they are re-baptized. The Mormon baptism is not recognized by the Catholic Church (or by most other churches for that matter.)

whyme is mormon in his head, yet he claims he is a baptized Catholic who converted to mormonism, and now he says that he attends mass regularly.

I am a former mormon, currently in RCIA, looking forward to the Easter Vigil. 🙂

Oh, OK, GREAT! Congratulations! We had a Mormon in our RCIA class too! Welcome to the Church that really was founded by Jesus Christ 😉

Neither one dude, you should refer to the Catechism of the Catholic Church; that’s the whole deal right from the source and it is freely available on the web.

You just post such links so that people go to these sites and get reeled in. You must think we are really stupid. 🤷

We’re on to you so cut the ****!

The main issue is Mormonism is not Christianity. You are decieved and want us to believe your deception.

Good post. If you go to my linked sites you can read about it. I posted them in response to another poster.

Lucifer became Satan because he gotproud and wanted the worship of God for himself. Therefore God rthrew him out of Heaven.

We’ve known this for at least 2000 years.Mormonism does not add to this or expound on it.

What? 🤷

That’s as gnostic as you can get and it also stinks of Freemasonry.

But you don’t believe you can rely on The Bible do you? You believe The Book of Mormon is greatter than The Bible don’t you?

You should throw out your Book of mormon,Peral of Great Price and Doctrines and Covenants and place authority on Gods Holy Word that is in The Bible.
Early Christian Evidence

The early pre-nicene Church father Lactantius wrote:
Well since you believe The originalteaching of The Apostles was lost after they died, quoting Church Fathers iis silly, because it contradicts your belief.

Come home to Christ!

Mormons have to go round the houses on this because what they believe is blasphemous filth.

Correct. Whyme is trying to make it soiund lessblasphemous and is posting links to sites hoping we’ll go and get converted.🤷
