While our apartment complex is allowing us to move to a one bedroom (instead of a two bedroom) for a year once our child comes and the lease is up, it turns out that they’re renovating all the apartments as they become available and so it will cost even more than we thought renting a two bedroom here will cost. Worse, we will only be able to stay for a year before moving to a two bedroom, which will cost around $2k after the renovation! We’re looking at other places, but the savings won’t be very significant unless we plan to stay for several years, which I hope to avoid. Though given the success we’ve had trying to move out of this area in the past few years, I’m not optimistic. And to add to the problem, my husband now thinks he won’t actually be done with his grad degree this coming winter like he said before. I feel so angry and resentful. We moved here for his career and have lost so much money just trying to stay afloat in this expensive, awful city. We finally were able to get to a decent financial place, only for this to happen. Please pray for us and our situation.
 
Prayer in Time of Financial Uncertainty

Dear Lord,
In this time of uncertainty,
Be my rock in a world built on sand;
Be my oasis of grace and peace
in a world of tension and turmoil;
Help me to carry my cross gracefully,
as you did in Your Passion;
Help me to follow Your beam of light
in the midst of this darkness;
Help me to see Your will in all things
And show others Your comfort and strength.

Keep me calm when tempers flare up;
Keep me sane in a crazy world;
Keep me focused on the houses in Heaven
rather than the houses of cards collapsing around me;
Keep my eyes focused on the prize of Heaven
and not lose hope in You in this world or in the world to come;
Make me compassionate in dealing with others;
Let me see my travails as carrying my cross
and sharing in Your Passion, for the love of You
and for the salvation of souls, including mine.
And may all my difficulties be ultimately
for my good and Your glory. Amen.

Praying for you. I know that the DC area has gotten painfully expensive.
 
Thank you. I don’t feel upset with my husband anymore, since I know we made the best choice with the information we had and the options available, but I really don’t know what we can do to be able to afford this area in the next few years.
 
St. Joseph, pray for this family. Intercede to help them with their housing and financial concerns. Help her husband with school and help her not to be resentful. Help them become a holy family. Amen.

Thank you for your prayers. We just realized we will be moving into a higher tax bracket next year, so almost all of my husband’s raise will be taken by the government. It looks like we might have no choice but to move really far out from the city.
