This is an email I sent to a reprensentative of the American Life League, Judie Brown’s Catholic ProLife organization, thanking them for agreeing to NOT call me on my phone at home because I have elderly parents who would be greatly harassed by having to get up and run to the phone. I post it because I also shared my views about middle-to-upper middle class proLifers not financially supporting, even in small amounts a piece, the ProLife movement, as if we are living in normal times and can morally afford to spend our money instead on nice cars, visits to the Olive Garden, eating out several times a week, and nice designer clothes and colognes. I don’t mean to offend ANYONE, only to raise the issue that we REALLY REALLY need to support the groups that are trying to STOP the child-killing industry in it’s tracks. These are NOT normal times, and morally, we (who have $50 a year to spare to give to two proLife stalwart chamion organizations, cannot morally afford to not do so, IMHO. God love all of you, and here is the letter:

Thanks (dear friend), I really appreciate your deleting my phone number.

The REASON I wrote, insisting that I not be called at home,
is that some groups — that I DO LIKE and STILL DO SUPPORT – such as Concerned Women for America,
National Right to Life Committee, the Christian Coalition, the Catholic Alliance (former group), the Republican National Committee (and several OTHER Republican organizations that I had NEVER even donated to !!! )
and others,
despite the fact that I asked them directly, firmly, and repeatedly NOT to call me at home,
INSISTED on REPEATEDLY doing so and then acting surprised when I told them that I had asked them,
over and over and over and over again, every time that they called, to PLEASE STOP calling my house.
My parents are old, and I’m at work all day, and they have to get up and make their way clear across the house to the phone, many times a day, to answer calls for me, begging ME for more money, money that I do not have ((even though I WISH that I did )),
and then, when they discover that I’M not there, would start hitting up my elderly parents for donations, not realizing that they are poor and on very fixed incomes.
It got to be extremely irritating, because they IGNORED my repeated requests that they stop it, and that they permanently delete, immediately, my phone number from their Call Lists, ((after a while, they finally DID comply ))
and so I finally started, when donating, telling folks in writing NOT TO CALL my house.
There was no other way to stop what was, frankly, I felt, unnecessary harassment.
I realize that good organizations DESPERATELY need donations. There are over 55 MILLION Catholic and Evangelical ProLifers. Most are middle-to-upper-middle-class and CAN DEFINITELY AFFORD to donate $25 a year EACH to American Life League, and $25 a year EACH to National Right to Life. If all 55 million would make that total annual $50 donation, we could BLOW THE PRO-ABORTION FORCES OUT OF THE WATER COMPLETELY, in each and every election WITHOUT EXCEPTION, and HANDS-DOWN,
but the truth is, that 90% of professed proLifers give mere LIP SERVICE and NOT ONE THIN DIME to support these two very noble organizations, NRLC and ALL.
They’ll spend sometimes hundreds of bucks a week on going to Burger King, the Olive Garden, the Cheesecake Factory, the Movies, daily eating restaurant food, nice clothes, good furniture, a nice rather expensive home, a late model car or two and sometimes three, but in the midst of this HORRIFIC WAR FOR THE LIVES OF BABIES, will not part with one thin dime to the Pro Life movement. That is TRULY DISGUSTING in my opinion, and I understand your desperate need for donations, believe me I do. Especially since many ProLifers, who CAN AFFORD to financially support the movement, FLATLY REFUSE TO DO SO, but waste TONS of money, sinfully I think, on Luxuries for themselves, as if we are living in NORMAL TIMES and without a deadly culture war raging all around us,
which War DEMANDS our financial support to the extent that we are able to give it.
I apologize, because I did not mean to hurt anyone’s feelings unnecessarily.
God bless you and your wonderful work,
XXXXXXXX,
South Florida
