I’m 23 years old, and I’m still not sure what to do for a career. I need to choose something quick, and it needs to be realistic and won’t take too long, as I don’t want to wait any longer than I have to before being able to marry my girlfriend.

Any help you can give would be much appreciated, even if the only help you can give is a prayer on my behalf.

Prayers!
Have you considered seeing a career counselor? So that you can find something that would be best suited to your gifts and talents?

There is really no “one-size-fits-all” career (though you may sometimes need to take an “ill-fitting” job to pay the bills until you can find a better fit). It really depends on your skills, talents, and passions, as well as your likes/dislikes and what is important to you.

For instance, if you really like to be around people, and do great one-on-one but hate being the center of attention in large crowds, then you probably wouldn’t do very well as a performer or classroom teacher or tour guide–but might be great with customer service or as a CNA or in sales or management. OTOH, if you prefer a more physically demanding environment and less social interaction, these jobs could become very stressful and “dead-end” for you, no matter how great the pay is. 😉

I’ve found that most of the time, those who love what they are doing tend not only to do the best job, but also generally make more money at it than someone who is skilled but unhappy in their work environment. So you have a lot of options, but they all depend on YOU.

Will :gopray2: for you.

Take a certificate class. Welders, miners, pipe fitters, carpenters, construction workers…don’t go to school long, work hard, and can support a family.

An 80 hour course can have you making a family wage within 1 year, so you could get married right away (as soon as your parish permits, that is). Depending on where you live, these and others may be options.

St. Joseph the Worker, pray for us!

Allow me to share a secret with you beautiful young Brother in Christ,

It was Jesus and Our Lady Mary Mother of Jesus whom chose, educated and flowed His Love, Wisdom and Strength through my 22 year old daughter last year with her career; something she never dreamed at the time possible for her to do given her educational background and given her confidence levels at the time from a negative having occurred in her life.

Now, when she prayed daily opening up her Heart to Jesus and our Holy Mother Mary the career landed in her lap so to speak and her confidence in Jesus and Our Lady Mary rose and within herself thereafter; it was her confidence in Jesus that made all things possible.

The point is fully trusting and having full confidence in Jesus to send along the right position for you in His time. In the meantime, ask Jesus to provide ‘your daily bread’ and the ‘right job/position’ for you now and for eternity. It is better to land in a position/job that Jesus prefers for your Soul and forthcoming Marriage. ie pray first and foremost for all of your jobs and occupations handing this over to Jesus and our Lady Mary Mother of Jesus.

The Holy Rosary daily is the best start.
