Hi…
I’m frustrated. I relocated almost a year ago to Collin County TX. I’ve attended the local parishes for Sunday Mass and am having a hard time with the cultural differences. Specifically, the music used reminds me of a baptist revival… not a Catholic Mass. Bluntly, I’m comfortable with both the NO and the EF but am totally unused to the music choices (I cannot believe these pieces would be used anywhere else) during the sunday liturgy as well as the choir’s method of performing (I used that word deliberately).
Please do not misinterpret this as a criticism of the priests: I have yet to observe one who isn’t reverent … most do their best to insert traditional aspects back into their masses. I witnessed (especially during Lent) priets reinserting Latin back into the NO mass (Agnus Dei, etc).
Any suggestions as to a parish in Collin County that doesn’t have this overwhelming Musical drama? (I’d welcome a return to the Marty Haugen: Gather us in at this point)…
Thanks
