Hi I posted months ago, you guys were great at answering me. Unfortunately still agnostic athiest :. Fortunately still want to be a believer. I listen to the apologetics podcast and its great all the guys like Trent horn and them are like heroes of mine. Lol. Now are catholic priests apologetics as well? Can I go to any priest? Or are certain priests apologetic? How does that work?

Okay i am not that bloody smart had to look up what the word apologetic meant.

Apologetics definition, the branch of theology concerned with the defense or proof of Christianity.

By that definition, and then adding the word priest after it, any priest is really an apologetic priest, if one where to think about it. A priest spends about 6 - 8 yrs in education to start off with, and i could go on an on but i wont.

Now if you are looking for a priest who has majored in Theology or has some higher degree in theology, that i can not answer.

If you just want to talk to a priest in general contact your diocese via the web to try and find a priest near by to set up an appointment for some general questions you have, or pick up the phone book, either way it should be very easy for you to find a priest locally in your area to talk to.

I have never heard of an actual " apologetic priest " so if there is just hang tight cause someone here will have better information than i on that subject.

I believe you may be referring to recommendations for a good priest that can offer counsel or some explanations of the faith pertaining to your questions and doubts? Which part of NJ are you from? I grew up in Summit and could definitely recommend my childhood pastor, Msgr. Robert Harahan. He was the rector and dean of IC Seminary and would maybe offer you some direction. He is currently at St. Elizabeth of Hungary in Wyckoff, NJ.

Some priests are more fluent in apologetics than others. I honestly have no idea how you would find one though. Most priests do know their faith pretty well, they just might not be skilled at answering specific objections. They have to go through several years of seminary, so it depends really on which seminary they go to.

Hmmm…Have you tried contacting Catholic Answers directly? They might know someone in your area that they can put you in touch with. They have a lot of priests on their broadcast, maybe one of them lives near you??

And I share your enthusiasm for Trent Horn, he’s really awesome!!! 👍
