Finding an inexpensive daily Missal (and perhaps the Sunday one too)

I do have my father’s First Communion Missal that contains the Sunday and Holy Day propers (but it is dated from the 1950’s as he is in his 60’s now). I did use it at the EF Sunday Mass, and the Epistle/Gospel reading wording was slightly different compared to what the priest read but otherwise the other items seemed to be the same.

Is there a place to purchase online either the Daily and/or the Sunday Missal for use at the ExtraOrdinary Form Mass that is not overly expensive?
 
The Epistle and Gospel translation is usually different when read at diocesan EF masses than in the missal because most diocesan EFs I’ve been to use the NAB translation for the readings and the 1962 missals use the Douay-Rheims. At the SSPX, they read the Douay-Rheims, can’t remember at the FSSP as I haven’t been to one of their masses in a long time.

So getting a new missal won’t change that.

As for prices, the Angelus Press daily missal ( which is my favorite missal that is still currently in print) is about 60 dollars. Check ebay and you could probably find a vintage daily missal for less.

My mom and I use The New Marian Missal, edited by Sylvester Juergens, S.M.; c. 1958; published by the Mary Immaculate Queen Center in Spokane, WA. (Also published by Loreto Press). I just recently bought a new copy this past week, (my original was 17 years old and the leather holding the cover plates on was splitting down the seam.

I purchased a brand new copy from Adoremus Books on e-bay for $40 with free shipping.

Got a nice one at the Salvation Army thrift store for 19 cents.
 
You can find vintage missals on ebay. I found my St. Joseph Daily Missal in like new condition with plastic cover for $14.00. In another auction I just purchased three vintage St. Joseph Missals of different kinds plus a Vatican II Daily Missal by Pauline Press for $17.00.

You just have to watch the auctions.
 
Back in the 1970s when people were chucking their pre-V2 missals, I had bought up a whole load of them for 25 cents each in a local thrift shop. I also remember getting a St Gregory’s Hymnal (organist version!) for 50 cents.
 
when the MP was passed allowing the EF Ascension press among others advertised a low cost missal for use of laity, and should still be available. since this time in most places that used to have an indult Tridentine (pre-1962) mass available have since dropped it in favor of the EF (1962) to improve attendance. Has that been your experience folks?

there was a 1957 St Andrew missal, the same one I received for confirmation, in this office when I started work here, a real treasure.
 
I just bit the “financial bullet” and bought an Angelus Press Daily Missal. well worth it. I have a shelf full of other pre-Vat II missals but most have the Propers in english only, which I don’t care for at all. The Angelus Press issue has both latin &english for the Propers.

I’m finding that I spend more & more time reading from the latin side lately.
 
I bit the bullet and bought the Baronius Press Missal, at my local Catholic bookstore, for $56. But I figure that I will have it for the rest of my life.

Look at it this way: Say you’re thirty years old, and you buy such a missal. If you live to be 70, that missal will cost you less than two dollars a year to have purchased. I’m sure all of us have purchased long-wearing items that are far more costly, even amortized over decades, that will give us nowhere near the return for our investment than that missal!

A word of caution, though, in buying a personal missal: You, or I should say, I, got spoiled by having a personal one, and then went and got the St. Joseph’s three volume set for daily and Sunday. And even though the new translation of the Mass is coming out in late November, I’m keeping these: Aquinas and More has a set of holy card inserts that have the new translations of major prayers that you can get as well. I figure I can manage “and with your spirit” on my own!
 
I got one on Ebay last night for 5 dollars…from 1958!

I already had one (my late mother’s); but my son needs one too.
 
I will have to check the sites mentioned, as a few places have the Daily and also the Sunday for a higher cost but I am sure it will be worth the cost but I do have to save for it too.
