This is one of Animal Planets highest rated shows! I couldn’t watch 5 minutes of it. Is the american viewing public this stupid??!! That footage of the alledged bigfoot from the 70s (I believe) was a hoax. There is no such a creature on this planet! Might as well be a show called, Finding the Roswell Alien.

If it’s the same show I’m thinking of it –– it bears the hallmark of what I dislike about most “documentaries.” It is not a documentary about some animal –– you know, like a narrator and video footage and charts or whatever tells the story. It become a documentary about the people doing the documentary. You know what I’m talking about. Half the show will be Jim talking to Billy and saying, “Where do you think we should camp out for the night?” “I don’t know man. We should head north over that mountain there.” “No way, it will be dark before we can get to the ridge.” “You’re always such a pessimist, Jim.”

And it doesn’t matter if it’s about Bigfoot, ghost hunters, antique hunters, myth busters, or whatever. The majority of the show has become the interplay and antics of the cast and if you’re lucky, 20% about the subject matter they used to actually sell the show. It’s cheap, unentertaining, and, in my humble and correct opinion––bo-ring. :o

I definitely agree!

I did not know one of these goofy shows was that popular, its sad how low people have sunk to watch something like this, Dont they see the show is not about finding anything, its about the searchers and their antics…its amazing to me at how many people have become popular celebs just by doing some dumb show, and have no acting ability at all, they just get on tv and act stupid, and all the sudden, they are popular??? what does this say about our society?

If someone really had an interest in finding Bigfoot, there are plenty of other options, and some scientists truly doing some exciting things, but this discovery will NEVER come from a TV show! lol

Let’s keep this in perspective, folks. This is one of the highest rated shows on Animal Planet. It ain’t exactly NBC or CBS.

It doesn’t surprise me if more people bother to watch other people looking for bigfoot than grooming poodles. Too bad there isn’t more of an audience for classy National Geographic-style documentaries though.

I find jersey shore and such… The bachelor, etc more disgusting and can’t believe people watch THOSE. There are far worse things on TV to watch ya know?

When I was a kid I liked believing stuff like that, and I do not care for the show, but my 9 yr old nephew likes it, and he wants to believe bigfoots exist. It sure does not belong on animal planet, but I have noticed many stations that used to be mostly factual are going to fiction, and just plain malarkey lately.

Animal planet also had some “documentary” about mermaids with some wantabe scientists claiming they exist! Some footage was shown of “real mermaids” – looked doctored.
I wonder how this show did in the ratings.

TLC- The Learning Channel…Honey Boo-boo and teen moms and contrived drama.
The “History” Channel: Aliens. It’s all aliens. Especially the Bible. Either that or Pawn Stars or swearing, stupid, boorish loggers (because showing the decent ones wouldn’t get ratings)

National Geographic still tries, at least.

🤷 For some reason people seem to like these types of pseudo history/science shows nowadays. I mean look at Ancient Aliens, its returning for a 6th or 7th season soon, how is that possible?! Now that’s something to be concerned about.

Theres still a large group that wonders what that show was about, I can see the darwinian crowd believing in real mermaids though.

I have a friend, sadly not too bright, who never finished highschool, but believes he knows all sorts of things now from watching cable TV shows.

Are you telling me that all those wonderful scientific documentaries we get streamed straight from the States on pay tv are not real? What about those well documented Ancient Aliens series? Or Alien files revealed? The one about the Vatican hiding aliens really had me worried I must say!
Those Haunting series where they film everything in half light and then play it all back to the owners of the places they visit must be true.
And now someone is suggesting that wonderful heart wrenching show of true love The Bachelor is somehow false!
I am a broken man. That will limit my television experience of your great American culture to re runs of I Love Lucy and Lavern and Shirley.
At least you haven’t suggested that Sharknado and Arachaquake and Ghostquake are not true events like that excellent series on Roswell and Area 51 which exposed the alien autopsies in that CIA conspiracy. Some things have been proven beyond doubt.

From my extensive knowledge of your paid television it is clear that I have an official mind of a ten year old. I think that is why I felt so at home when I visited the States. (I couldn’t believe they still wear guns in Dallas like in the Lone Ranger. May you never change.)

Unintentionally funny the show is.😃

SHH…:bigyikes:
Did you hear that?..something’s over there…did you hear that?..Sounded like a twig breaking…SHH…be quiet…sounded like a growl…

Thank God I gave up on cable TV

American Pickers is the only “reality show” I watch. All antiques, no drama. I’m not sure if Mike Wolfe does that deliberately knowing his audience are mainly rural Baby Boomers and history buffs, but it works well.

It’s mostly about old junk.

Now Storage Wars is a great program.
Brandi Passante, darling, where were you when I was young? 😦

The problem with Cryptozoology (search for hidden animals) is that it is labelled as a Pseudo-science just like Ufology and Parapsychology. What gets me is that these so- called “researchers” continuously ignore obvious zoological discoveries (like recently discovered new animals or previously extinct animals that were rediscovered). I reckon that these guys who produce that series also ran that website, Cryptomundo, and I think it is made only for laughs (my own opinion). They keep on chasing mythical creatures where there is scanty evidence of their existence (Big Foot, Loch Ness Monster, Yeti, Chupacabra) while ignoring recent discoveries about real “monsters” like that Giant Crocodile that was caught in the Philippines a couple of years ago. Not even once did I see that mentioned in their website.

You bring up a very good point. These shows have very little real scrutiny by actual zoologists and scientists. The search for “hidden animals” would be in fact rather boring to the average “Cryptozoologist” fan. The species of animals they discover are many times rather small and harmless, like birds and species of deer. “Big” discoveries, like the giant squid are rather rare. Let’s face it Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster, and Chupacabra are “sexy” discoveries. Who wants to hear about a new species of bird?
On the other hand, remember this. My cat can do great job of hiding in our small house. So, an animal that can hide in thousands of miles of wilderness isn’t all that far fetched.

Don’t forget Discovery Channel’s show about the extinct Megalodon Shark. They claimed to have found live ones. It was a hoax.

Oh, and Mystery Diners show is fake too.

I remember when the Learning Channel was about learning, the Discovery Channel was about science, the History Channel was about history and Animal Planet was about real animals. Now the only source for consistently good educational television is YouTube.
