Finding info on "obscure" saints

A friend gave me a daily planner from TAN books which lists the feast days of many saints. (love it!) I have never heard of MANY of these saints! I would love to know more about them. Is there a good, readable book on “unfamiliar” saints? I appreciate any info on this. Thanks and God bless!
 
You can try this link: catholic.org/saints/stindex.php?lst=B There’s also a four volume encyclopedia of every Saint in the Church. I can’t recall the name of it.

I think the 4 volume one is Butler’s Lives of the Saints. Good Luck, I love reading about saints!
 
I got a copy of an older book called “Lives of the Saints for Every Day of the Year”, which is a day-by-day bio of saints, selected from Butler’s complete set. It’s a little dated, but very readable.

Another possibility is Donald Attwater’s Penguin Dictionary of Saints, which provides short bios of many saints. It is actually a pretty critical source, as he calls into question the existence of many of the early saints–but it’s still good reading.
