It’s a pretty horrible Lent

Of course, I think part of it is this time of year, also.
Winter just won’t give up… :crying:

I bet there’s flowers and green grass down South already…

there’s still snow on the ground here…:crying:

Sometimes I get to a point in my faith where I just see myself all too well. I think my faith isn’t always mature enough to do the right thing with that. (to lead to growth rather than despair).

Thanks for this thread, Anne w/ E :o . It’s helped me to p(name removed by moderator)oint some specifics I need to see…

I think this is one of the many fruits of Lent…Taking a good hard look at oneself…:o Then picking up that cross and carrying it the best way we know how.👍

Now this is a subject that my mind is on constantly. I feel so guilty about it. This has been my weakest Lent yet. Usually I do pretty well.

Can someone give me some ideas for sacrifices. I feel like I’m not creative enough.
I want to sacrificee throughout the year not just during Lent but I am so weak.

Hi Kav,
Glad to see that you belong to the same club! I must say that I’m not pleased with myself either:o … But, as others have pointed out to me, maybe the things that I’ve chosen to sacrfice aren’t necessarily the things I needed to do… I have been pointed in many different directions of sacrfice this Lent and yes, it has been one of my hardest yet. My advice to you is…just keep putting one foot in front of the other and the Holy Spirit will help you w/ the rest.:yup:

I am not eating bread for the season of Lent. I originally thought I couldn’t eat bread at all during lent, but a friend of mine said I could eat it on Sundays. So, I have only eaten bread a total of 3 times. It was hard in the beginning, but now it isn’t that bad. And I am learning a lot about myself and God as well.

why do I do this every year, set up penances for myself, which inevitable fail about Tuesday of the 2nd week, instead of letting the Holy Spirit send (or allow others to send) all the penance I need, and more than I want.

Lord, I want to suffer for you and with you
“We can handle that, hey, Gabriel, let the demon blow 'er knees out”
Lord, I want to experience your hunger and to thirst with you
“Gotcha, hey, Gabriel, whisper in her doctor’s ear and put her on a bran and papaya diet, bet she’s never tried that one, oh, and have the doc order a colonoscopy, that’ll get her attention”
You get my drift.

Well, here I am midway through Holy Week and my sacrifices that I started out with for Lent have taken many different paths…:o Guess WHO is in charge?😉

The words of St. Paul (Romans 5:20) keep going through my head…
"Where sin abounds, there grace abounds all the more."
:amen:

**Hi Anne!! 👋 **

I know what you mean…

:blessyou:

I have a hard time with fasting:( …it’s such a challenge for me. I’v added many other things, prayer, Rosary, Novena’s and meditation of the cross.

Oh Lord if I’m not in the state of grace, please put me there!
was it Joan of Arc that said this?
