one last question:
there’s nothing scammish about these sites, is there? Like hidden charges, binding contracts etc etc etc???

Reed:
one advice from another young unmarried person:

Love and Humility.
If there is one thing a good Christian woman can smell from afar it’s pride… and that smell is not good.
Dont be afraid to be open, honest and sensitive. A woman mostly dont want a man who cant ever shed a tear.
Clothe your self in Jesus Christ as your only Good… then the woman who is meant to be yours with recognize you on the Holy Spirit resting in you.
Have patience with your self and with others.

God bless your search…
👍

No scams on the Catholic dating sites.

Ave Maria is a one time fee. there is an optional package that is paid for yearly that offers extra (like extra pictures, posting in forums, etc), however, you can still full access communication with others without it.

On Catholic match, the only weird thing is to watch out for renewal time…you might unknowingly be set up for automatic renewal.

You can look at the site and see. It is relatively high, because they try to keep it to people who trully are serious about it. I do know that some very quality folks of faith did not join there because of that. It has a LOT less people there, however, more of them are serious about their faith.

Ave Maria singles sounds great, but Im worried that there wont be very many ppl my age on it (I think one of the other members here said there were only 25 other ppl) whereas there were over 500 ppl on catholic match who were 20-22 years old

What part of the country (or planet, for that matter) are you located?

i’m on catholic match. it’s pretty good but you really can’t do much if you don’t pay. I think CAF should have a singles forum.

Someone registered on such a site please do me a favour? I’m getting the impression most people registered there are American… what are the odds of finding a not secularised, reliable European Catholic there?

Although I don’t (and probably wouldn’t) use one of the websites myself, I am guessing you are more likely to find a good Catholic girl on things like ‘ave maria’, than you are in real life, knowing Europe 😉

The odds are not good. Simply because I think most European Catholics don’t know that AveMaria exists and if they are into Catholic net-dating they probably find a more local website in their own language. Why deliberately put one self into a long distance problem?
However… when it comes to your last line. If you want to find a good Catholic European woman and this is your dream then I can only tell you that I believe in fairytales so why not come over to our continent and enjoy the hospitality maybe in Italy or Poland? People usually like Americans.
There are thousands and thousands of good catholic women in Europe…
🙂 So follow your dream.

Ah, sorry, you got me wrong. 😉 I was tentatively asking since after all I don’t really feel called to a single life. I asked about sites you people attend because there aren’t quite any Polish or European ones I’d know of, at least excepting secular ones. And secular ones are about as reliable as a bar or park or something, i.e. you might get lucky but the chance is poor. In fact, I don’t really believe in dating sites, since the way it is artificial and bent on match-making from the very beginning, it kills the charm for me and takes away that certain magic which could pop up and make it work in a more natural situation. And I utterly don’t feel like going through a match-making process with a stranger I wouldn’t otherwise have any interest in. I’d much rather come into contact with someone on a more social site or one related to hobbies or a cause or something like that. So I took the opportunity to ask a tentative question and that’s all. 😉

No doubt, but I’m scared of where Europe’s going. I can’t take any more feminism, liberalism (I don’t mean economy here), relativism, permissivism, progressivism. I’ve decided not to make any more compromises for the sake of my sanity. Modernism is scary. People just don’t get the idea that if they cut off the branch they sit on, they’ll fall from the tree (local saying). You’d think people in Europe should especially get it, but no, most don’t. Sometimes it feels like they’re from a different planet. Another local saying is, “finding a needle in a haystack,” and I think it reflects the odds quite well.

Hehe… Yes… the Europeans in generel are from another planet. Just imagine how scary it is to live here… I often think about immigrating… I contemplate it every day… but America is not my dream destination because its just like another Europe…

See, we are strangers in this world and that is felt…
Its quite diffcult for a Catholic to find a good Catholic match where I live… But I am in North Europe which makes things much more complicated… if you go to Italy or Poland I think its easier.

I think you are totally right about datingsites… they are not exactly romantic and they put a strain on everything when meeting this other person and trying to be natural about it. I’ve been there, done that…

Anyway… the Americans seem a bit more warm and open and therefore easier to get into contact with than many other people… so I have hope for you 🙂

Good luck C 👍

It may be, although while 90% people here are Catholic, only about 40% go to church regularly. Then consider ABC vs NFP, premarital sex vs abstinence and so on. You’re believed extreme even if you just don’t make exceptions from the “rules”.

Yup. Besides, imagine. One person only or all five? And what if someone “better” pops up in the meantime? It turns into a bit of a match-making market. And I’m totally against non-exclusive dating of the romantic kind, as much as I believe it’s no one’s business who goes for a coffee with whom.

I have always believed that if one wants to meet the ‘right’ person, that person needs to be what he/she is looking for. For example–If you are looking for someone who is generous, kind, Catholic, charitable…then, maybe volunteer at a Catholic organization, and your ‘odds’ will be greater of meeting like minded people. But, I think there is something to be said about being the person, you would like to have by your side. (from a character perspective) Obviously, personalities, backgrounds, hobbies will be different…you shouldn’t be spitting images of one another:p but when seeking a spouse, your characters should be pretty aligned. Simply put, be the person you want in a spouse…and most likely, Ms Right will become more obvious to you.

Great post WG (it really gets you thinking),

In essence, it means that you cannot reasonably expect your spouse to be xyz if you yourself don’t exhibit ‘it’, or at least compensate in some other way. I.e don’t expect a funny, kind, and generous person to be head over heels in love with you if you yourself are monotonous, indifferent to charity (the virtue), and have few interests in life.

Your spouse wants a great partner too 😉
