I find solace in silence, if not internal at least external silence. It helps to give me a new perspective on life. Letting go of the external noise of the world allows me to hear myself think and actually hear some to the nonsense I tell myself. I find solace in meditation (sitting and walking), fasting and giving of my time, talents, and treasures (karma yoga). I find solace in the belief that real happiness lies within us. I find solace in the letting go of expecting, wanting, and biases. I find solace in each breath I experience-really experience-even though I’m only nearing 60 years old I realize these breaths are limited to the next couple of decades or maybe the next few minutes. I find solace in the pain and suffering I experience as this lets me know I’m alive and at this moment I have an attachment to being alive. I find solace in seeking Truth, in the day to day mundane activity of the journey. Each moment of each day a new lesson to be learned if I pay attention.
