I was flipping through my radio and came to a show that I had never listened to. It was a talk show run by a man named Neal Borq(Bork?)

I only listened for a few moments, but I was surprised when I heard him say that most anti abortion advocates are males. He actually was not that nice in his statement. As he gave no source of statistics for this statement there was no way for me to verify the authenticity of what he said.

Does anyone know where I can find a statistic for the ratio of male to female prolife members? Just from my own experience, it seems that the most ardent prolifers are females not males but my experience is limited, of course, to the people I know.

I am not planning on calling this guy up, but it would be an interesting statistic to know. I am just uncertain how to find the ratio.

It’s Neal Boortz… never listened to him, but all I know is that he is a hardcore libertarian.

I thought most pro-choice people are females.

I am not sure where you can find statistics on activists, but I think you were listening to the Neal Boortz show. His talking points for today includes this opinion of the Republican party:
Let’s hope when they come wandering back from the desert they’ve managed to lose those absurd (mostly male) abortocentrists … the men who deem it their life’s work to control the reproductive processes of their womenfolk.

oops… Ribozyme beat me to it!

My impression is agrees with yours, but I think what is at issue is the gender balance of pro-life activists.

Yes, that’s who I heard. I had no idea who he was. Thanks. I tried to find his website to see where his claim came from but I wasn’t certain how to spell his name.

I did a search but apparently no one keeps records on the genders of prolife advocates.🤷

Well, once we’re completely free of the need of male sperm to reproduce (see the thread in secular knews about sperm created from a female embryo), then men will have “no business” speaking about abortion. However, since as of right now, the unborn child gets 1/2 of his/her dna from a man, then men get to be pro-life. Pro abortionists never seem to complain about men who are “pro-choice”. If men can’t be pro-life, then they can have no opinion about abortion at all, and that includes supporting planned parenthood and/or NOW and/or NARAL. Can’t have it both ways.

In Christ,

Ellen

Every human being has a “business” to speak out against the wholesale killing of helpless human beings.

Due to many anti-abortion organizations attracting men and women of all ages and backgrounds, and due to the grassroots structure of many organizations, statistics might not be readily available on those against abortion.

His inaccuracy and global wording invalidate his discussion. What does he mean, anti-abortion? Most people, even people who call themselves pro-life, argue on every level what is means to oppose abortion. Some believe from conception onwards, some believe ABC is allowable even if it can cause early abortions, some believe in cases of rape, etc.

But, if you are interested in statistics, why not research the statistics of those doctors who perform abortions. There’s some gender equality for you…

I know, I was just being facetious. The idea that a human, of whatever gender, can’t speak out against the killing of other humans, is just a desperate grasp at straws by the pro-abortion movement to silence probably 1/2 of the pro-life movement. That’s like saying that whites can’t speak about against racism, it’s nonsensical.

In Christ,

Ellen

The only thing I remeber from grauate school is how to manipulate statistics. So Beware -

I’ve seen it done. I was at a political rally a few years back where a speaker, a hispanic lady, mentioned her father had been killed by the KKK – and was promptly told by a Black gentleman, “Don’t you tell us about the KKK!”

And oddly enough, when I inquired later, I found that gentleman’s father and mother were still alive.

Well, I can’t use the statistics to call Bortz’s show or write him. He said that his staff would delete any messages about abortion and that he wouldn’t accept any phone calls about the subject.🤷

I did think that the statistics might come in handy if any other person ever makes the claims that he did.

Basically, he said that it was only men who wanted to control thier women who opposed abortion. He must have known that it was a false statement because he refused to listen to any alternate opinions.

I would look at the general social survey for some data because it covers abortion and it is a well designed survey. I did a simple crosstab of whether the person agreed with the statement:

“Please tell me whether or not you think it should be possible for a pregnant woman to obtaina legal abortion if: g. The woman wants it for any reason?”

I crosstabbed the answer with gender and found that 61.3% of women said no and 59.8% of men said no. This data certainly doesn’t support his hypothesis!

If anyone wants to play around with the data, it can be found here:

sda.berkeley.edu

They have many variations of questions about abortion there, but
I found it interesting to find that in 30 seconds I could refute his hypothesis.
