The Catholic Church has the highest moral standards for behavior. It can be frustrating trying to live up to everyone one of those standards. It seems like no matter you are weak and sinful. All the things that are graces seem like punishments on Earth. People say it is not good to feel complacent in your faith or to have a dead conscience. It feels a lot better than feeling guilty all the time. Ultimately I do not trust God with my life, I know it sounds very foolish for a believer to say, but it is very scary following Him in this life. Sometimes I am just like what the hell - why not sin? Nothing happens to many people who refuse to listen to God or are blind in their own shortcomings. Ignorance feels like bliss with God.
 
Oh Cratus. I mean I feel your confusion and your pain. But please think this through. Please get strength from this. Think only of your buddy Trident. Think about how far off the rails you can go if you don’t at least try to listen to God. I mean really?

Because even if you don’t do everything when you’re feeling really weak, at least you’ve got a way to patch things up later with confession. But when all you’ve got is the consequences of your actions, you live with that guilt on your brain forever. And that can make you do stupid stuff. Like I tried once to explain to you. Like I tried once to show you.

You don’t want to end up like me. You don’t want to go this way. Just stay strong, k? Stay in the light. Even if you slip you can get back up. And I mean this path leads up. It leads up even above the clouds. I mean we can’t see it yet, but it does. And when we get there, man the view is breathtaking. But we’ve got to help each other sometimes. We’ve got to care.

I’m hoping you don’t forget. I’m hoping you keep climbing up.

Because otherwise you’re stuck at the bottom. With me.

Personally I find Trident to be a breath of fresh air. No presumption, always kind and gracious toward others, and humble.

Cratus, I say this with all love and sincerity. You try REALLLY hard to find fault with the faith, yourself, and mostly, others.
Give it a rest.

Give your attention to Christ in the Eucharist, in your daily life, in your actions and words.
Find peace and solace in the greatest and ONLY religion that was instituted by Christ Himself.

Be joyful!

Leave the negativity behind once and for all,.
We are not called to understand every single thing in this life. But we are called to trust the Lord.

We love you, our friend. We want you to be at peace.
Spend these hours reading good books about Christ, His saints, His life.
Delve into the facts and discover the why and the how, and the joy!
Pray the rosary, talk to your mother Mary.

I never saw myself as a fault-finder or highly critical of others. I guess you learn something new each day. I guess I could be more positive.

Seriously, it deals a lot with trust in Christ and it is a really helpful book for Catholics no matter where they are. I understand if you, like me, pile books up in the “reserves” and aren’t interested in another one, but it is a good, helpful read. I will pray for you.

Grant me, O Lord, good digestion, and also something to digest!
Grant me a healthy body, and the necessary good humor to maintain it.
